Clegg denied it.

Oh, well, if Nick Clegg said it, it must be true

I suspect the entire story was made up whole cloth by the Murdock media hell-bent on driving us out of the EU but getting Nick Clegg to deny it is brilliant. Everyone knows he's a shameless turncoat.

You would have thought that an unelected German head of state would be in favour of the EU. :p

The Queen is no more German that I am.Her family have lived here for centuries, she was born in London, having a connection to German ancestry doesn't make you German.

Actually she has a direct lineage to German ancestors.

Queen Elizabeth II is the male-line great-granddaughter of Edward VII, who inherited the crown from his mother, Queen Victoria. His father, Victoria's consort, was Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha; hence Queen Elizabeth is a patrilineal descendant of Albert's family, the German princely House of Wettin

The Royal name Windsor was adopted in 1917:

The House of Windsor is the royal house of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. It was founded by King George V by royal proclamation on 17 July 1917, when he changed the name of the British Royal Family from the German Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (a branch of the House of Wettin) to the English Windsor, due primarily to the anti-German sentiment in the British Empire during World War I. The most prominent member of the House of Windsor at any given time is its head, currently Queen Elizabeth II.

So German ties are not only strong but relatively recent.

Can we insert the obligitory Edward VIII's Nazi salute picture now to confuse John40 again with a bit more satire...:p

I have 2 degrees and will be voting out. My office has a very high proportion of degrees and all are voting out. The only people that have said they want to remain aren't British and so can't vote anyway. I have yet to meet a single person that is eligible to vote and wants to remain.

Well, now you've met me.

Love the UK so much you emigrated to Australia. Will you be moving back if remain wins? No? Thought not.

Remember, being racist is OK as long as it is a joke... :D

I do find it interesting that otherwise left wing posters will fall back on the same sorts of arguments used by the likes of BNP on how British someone is or isn't.

He would say that though wouldn't he. I guess we'll never find out the truth on this one.

The Palace denied too. The truth is known, the story was made up, there's no proof no evidence. I had a phone conversation with the Queen and she told me she was a huge EU fan. I guess we'll never find out the truth on this one.

What the Queen thinks is irrelevant. She's just a figure head. Window dressing for a stuffy establishment with its head firmly up it's own backside.

Put it like this all the evidence would point to the Queen wanting to maintain this country as an Independent one not ruled fron Brussels.
The Independence bit is already largely lost but an OUT vote can restore it, I would be shocked if the Queen didn't think the same.

Disagree, she may not have any real power but is hugely influencial and her views would be important to a lot of people.
