If I was British I would vote to leave this pathetic socialist nonsense. I am saying that even if it meant I would have to leave Britain and go back to my country (Slovakia). You really need to get your country back people.

GD delivers in spades.:o And yet, my dear wanderer, how can the EU be both a neoliberal, free market hell and a socialist union still remains to be shown! We are all ears.

Get our country back? I hadn't noticed it leave. All Western democracies are quasi socialist to varying degrees. It's like this because it works and so far we don't have a better alternative. Socialism is a good thing for many aspects of a healthy functioning democratic and pluralistic society. If you genuinely feel we've gone to the dogs then why are you living in the West Midlands and not Slovakia? Pot kettle black much? On your bike mate if you're fed up, no ones stopping you. ;)

That's a false characterisation of what happened. We owed the EU money because we brought our GDP calculations into line with other countries and that re-calculation increased our GDP. We, like other countries, pay based on our GDP; it's hardly fair if we use a different system to under-report our GDP is it?

George Osborne's incompetence and duplicity hardly reflects bad faith on the part of the EU.

The re-calculation was based on numbers we supplied and had spent two years calculating. The exact amount that we'd be asked for was precisely predictable from the numbers we handed over. For Cameron and Osborne to act surprised by it reflects either incompetence or duplicity on their behalf.

There's a general BIDMAS problem with the Out camp in failing to distinguish between gross and net; estimate and money paid; cost, fees and revenue. Bookkeeping is a mean business like that! Shame they are trying to use it to prove their point, because I think it backfires at a steady rate, and just makes them look innumerate on top of the other problems they already have.

It works? Lol, it definitely does, just look at Sweden as an example of socialism is a good thing. I live here because I like British way of life (don't like the weather tho' :D) and in case you haven't noticed I was complaining about EU not Britain my friend. I lived in a country where socialism was a reigning power and it sucked for many reasons. Now I can see those bad things I hated silently coming back through EU's agenda and I don't like it.

Trust me, the UK is a strong nation. We've come a long way over a very long time and one thing we do well in this country is adapt and innovate. We have a strong resolve in the UK, it's what makes us who we are so don't think we'll succumb to anything from the EU that we are not willing to accept.

Well said.

Edited for harshness:

If you don't like it in the Uk you can move back. I mean this socialist nonsense must be causing you a real problem with your comfortable lifestyle.

Bit unnecessary. He just doesn't agree with certain political viewpoints and thinks the eu is a sham. He can still like our country and enjoy living here whilst maintaining his own political opinion.

It was weird listening to IAG (company that owns BA among others) chief Willie Walsh talking about Europe on the radio this morning. Although he put his name down on the now notorious FTSE36 letter, he admitted, without much pressure it has to be said that he didn't expect a Brexit to have any effect on his company.

Probably because the increased costs of doing business will be offset by not having to pay any more EU261 compensation to passengers after yet another delay to a BA flight :p

I'd imagine many firms will be more than happy to see the back of some of the EU's consumer protection legislation..

Latest news from Greece :

Two refugees attempt to hang themselves in Athens. From the photos it appears to be a blatant PR stunt. BBC Breakfast were all over it this morning.

It reminds me of the "refugee" being escorted by Austrian border police, who upon seeing the TV cameras, decided to pull his family onto a railway line in protest.

Why do the media pander to them and peddle these lies? What is the agenda they are trying to push?

After reading up on a few things there doesnt really seem any good reason to exit.
What are you going to do about immigration then?

We don't have the infrastructure and aren't building enough houses for large swathes of Eastern Europe and the third world to come and live here.

We cannot continue the trend of mass immigration without increasing the number of houses being built significantly!

The costs of not being in a single market are something that can't be ignored though. Border controls come at a very high cost.

The thing you seem to not realise is the Government want the immigration, so the numbers won't change after the referendum either way

For the Y/E Sept 15 :-

Net migration of EU citizens was estimated to be 172,000 (compared with 158,000 in YE September 2014; change not statistically significant). Non-EU net migration (191,000) was similar to the previous year (188,000).

So Non-EU migration, something we do have complete control of, was higher than EU migration.

So if there was a concern at the top over numbers coming in and lack of space/infrastructure, they could easily cut the non-EU numbers down.

We have an ageing population and shrinking work force, there is a lot of concern about how we will fund the ponzi scheme that is our pension/social security system....and importing in lots of young workers who will have more offspring than the natives seems to be the solution they have come to.

Since I am foreign I can't vote ^.^, but if I was unable to enter UK it would be impossible for me to spend thousands of pounds on components for my pc from ocuk every few yers(been in uk now 10, and never been of work for longer than 3 days). Honest work emigrants bring a lot to the economy. Staying in EU is a right choice.
