The Evil Within

This is what it looks like on an Ultrawide screen display. It's artificial letter boxing on 16:9, it's not using the proper 21:9 aspect ratio. They lied when they said it uses the cinema aspect ratio.

That's like a less extreme version of trying to watch Netflix at 21:9. (Netflix has the film at the correct aspect ratio, but it just goes like the evil within does)

But that's hilarious at how it displays itself.

Don't suppose anyone is having the same problem as me,I can play in max settings on 1080P on my 23inch 120hz monitor no problem,

But when i try plugging in my T.V via HDMI everything is fine desktop wise and other games,

Then when i go to the settings and put it on 1080P all the screen shifts so i can't see half the menu options and gameplay looks like half of it is off the screen.
Game does not detect HDTV's properly so reduces FPS to 24 to match the HDTV 24Mhz mode same issue Wolfenstein The New Order had wait for them to patch or go post on their forums so they know about it!

Now I'm proper bummed out. I was planning on playing it through my TV.

Oh well, looks like this is going to be stuffed in the drawer and revisited when they figure out what a PC is and how to optimise it.

It's like Watch Dogs all over again.

I have over 500 games on steam, been bitten far to many times. I have not got any of the new games over the past two months, I have promised myself I can wait 4 weeks after release and I will get a far better gaming experience for doing it, or I just won't buy. Vote with your wallet people, don't pre order anything.

Yeah, but it wont save and you will have to re-enter it when you restart the game.

You can place those commands in

C:\Users\(YourName)\Saved Games\TangoGameworks\The Evil Within\base

Open "the evil withinConfig.cfg" with notepad and add it to the very bottom like so

megashadow_resolutionScale "1"
con_IconWindowY "24"
con_IconWindowX "24"
r_forceaspectratio "2"
r_swapinterval "-1"

The above is my setting.

Really dated feel to this game and ridiculous fov.

These settings look good for my set up. I've left the fps lock at 30, as that's the supported rate and with it set at 60 it just jumps about all over the place.

This is my last pre-order of any game. Never again.

Anyone struggling to twitch this with Shadowplay? My mate wants to watch me play, but I can't get the stream to kick in. I have a feeling that fullscreen isn't being exactly truthful, hence G-sync not working either.

That's just it though, they lied about the aspect ratio. It's letterboxed 16:9. most likely done because full 1920x1080 is impossible to maintain 30fps at on Consoles.
Even so I can't keep a steady 30fps anyway.

..

it's 16:9 because nearly all console boys game via TV only.... this has been released without anyone checking the game for mistakes, i doubt one patch will fix it, because it'll be something else then something else etc....just like Fallout 3

it's strange because Dishonored was perfect

First chapter was terrible in my opinion. Nearly turned it off after that but gave it another shot. Chapter 2 wasn't amazing either but far better than the first and chapter 3 so far feels like I'm playing RE4 with more dangerous enemies and less ammo.

Just encountered a game breaking bug as well. I examined a window to look through it and no matter what I do, I can't go back to controlling my character again. Its stupid how bugs like that make it into the launch code...

Same here, I truddled into chapter one and instantly wanted to quit and leave the game for good. Chapter was meh, how can these even be called chapters.

I'm on Chapter 3 now so we'll see how it goes.
