The Evil Within

im quite enjoying this game - on chapter 2, i did the borders fix by putting the line in the cfg file, i didnt touch the dev console. left the fps how it is, the game feels smooth enough locked at 30 never get any fps drops, and with the fps unlocked, im hovering around 40-50... doesnt make any difference.

Hayden @ FlawlessWidescreen has fixed 21:9 almost so his plugin should be out soon. No word on FPS fixes yet Bethesda are not saying anything which is very poor.

This game has 2 refresh rates apparently. An internal timer which operates on the game engine then the refresh rate reported to the OS.

That is most likely why its having FPS issues somewhere the devs have gone massively wrong on PC its probably how they maintain the FPS on the consoles having variable refresh rates to maintain vsync but on PC it has no place they should remove it as its causing issues for the majority!

cant wait for the fix from hayden :D
havent play`d it get just at the start of chapter 3 so waiting on his 21-9 fix first with no borders :D
Me too but also I hope Nvidia can do something about FPS the game appears to have 2 refresh rates for consoles but PC has it as well they need to disable on PC ASAP its causing the constant micro stuttering IMO.

Bethesda have said they are working on FPS improvements on all 5 platforms so not sure how long that will take

I've played a little of the game, and to be honest it looks as if it could be a cracking game. I won't be playing until there's a patch released though, as I want to enjoy the game.

Releasing the game in that state is a total disgrace.

So, why aren't there any PC reviews yet ???

There's lots of console ones but no PC, metacritic has lots of negative user reviews due to the bad optimisation. Have the devs asked PC sites to wait for a game update before reviewing it?

Or there was a Shadow of Mordor agreement where nothing negative was allowed to be shown or said about the PC version.

It will keep happening, no doubt getting steadily worse, until people stop paying for poorly polished turds.

All that would do is mean they stop bringing the games to PC altogether sadly :(. Not sure what the solution is, but I doubt not buying it would change anything in future. Just have to hope the next set of consoles can handle 60fps..

Just take GTAV for example. They have sold 33 million copies so far, that's before bringing them out on the next gen consoles. If GTA4 is anything to go by they might shift 1m on PC. It's no wonder they dont care about bringing it out on PC.

This game is unfinished if the XB1 version also has FPS issues I think the devs made a serious mistake in the coding. Its got 2 different frame rate clocks apparently. An internal one to boost FPS & the external one which reports the FPS to the display so it knows the Frame rate to display.

Somewhere they have gone badly wrong no wonder Bethesda are looking at patching all 5 versions for better FPS improvements. This game had potential as a dated Silent Hill/Resident Evil survival horror title for Halloween but technical issues are stopping most people from having a good time with it I think it will be real cheap in a few months the damage is done already they need launch days patches not a vague statement on their own forums about looking at FPS improvements across all platforms
