The Evil Within

Hmm.

After finding Kidman again (and her buggering off again after i started to turn), im now in what looks like a warehouse of mannequin parts, where theres some big dude walking around either in stocks, or with a big cross on his back, made my way past him to find an electronic door that he says needs a key for, so went looking, ran into a normal zombie, which i tried to kill, but as soon as i shot him, i died, seemed to blow the whole warehouse up for some reason, was very odd.

There's a couple weaker chapters near the end of the game, but also a couple really good ones, so definitely worth finishing.

Yeah im gona try and finish it off now. :D

Safe head made another appearance, so thought i was in for another battle , luckily not :p

Gah the bugger is back, meat storage! :D

Finished it!

What a bloody game, i thoroughly enjoyed that, last part was well wacky :D

Its onto the DLC now! :p
Let me know what you think. I liked EW a lot, but never got around to buying the DLC.

it's the scariest game there is, it has the best atmosphere of any horror shooter.
but it's almost too hard and scary to play again.
I'd say Alien Isolation matches/bests it in terms of atmosphere and sheer scare levels, but Evil Within is up there, particularly with atmosphere. Really great variety too, each level being quite unique. And I think it's the better 'game', also. Alien Isolation was a bit one-note and its long length made that even harder to ignore.

deffo right there, it's amazing how good this game is compared to the new DOOM.

ok it's an old school arcade shooter, but they could've given it far more atmosphere and terror.

I wanted to like this (there is a demo on steam) but the opening is soo slow and kind of just hold forwards to progress, obviously it opens up a bit somewhen but i just couldnt be assed lol will retry as it is said to be good

Is this game worth buying now it's been fixed ?
Oh god yea. Few months after release it got some performance-orientated patches that made it run quite respectably. I played it at 1440p/60fps with only occasional drops on a GTX970. Had two freezes, so it's not 100% stable, but that's out of the 28 hours it took me to beat the game, so I dont consider that any deal-breaker at all.

I think the game would have been much better received overall had the console versions not ran so poorly along with the black bars that were quite obtrusive. PC version didn't have any of those problems and I dont think it was a coincidence that those who played it on PC tended to come away far happier than those who played it on console.

Anyways, the game feels like a proper spiritual successor to RE4 and has even better combat. Was my joint GOTY in 2014 along with Divinity Original Sin.

Just about to start this, what difficulty is best for a first playthrough? I'm not exactly new to survival horror games having played all the resident evil games, but on the other hand I remember the demo being quite tough with a lot of sneaking about which I get frustrated with and don't want to have to keep playing the same bits over and over. There really should be a middle option rather than casual or hard from the start..

just get stuck in on medium ;) but you'll need to watch out for hidden traps and enemies appearing out of nowhere......finally, be ready to run for your life  because this aint DOOM one false move and you're dead and you die all the time. you die instantly on any setting

it's very scary and hard work too, because you cant afford to let a Zombie even hit you, so you spend most of the game backing off which is where the fear and terror comes from, it's realistic............ it's a very unforgiving game, it punishes you for any mistake you make and it's fully of Booby traps as well !!!!
