The Evil Within

Just finished the assignment a few days ago. It was creepy as hell, but I didnt really enjoy it as I'm not a fan of stealth mechanics. Hopefully the other dlcs are more like the main game.

Just finished it off, and enjoyed it, end was weird though :p

I Like the way you have to use the flashlight, its something different.

The Consequence now :D

I've finally got around to picking this game up (on the PS4, not PC, however).

First impressions are not great:

- Frame rate is atrocious. Within the first 10 secs of play-time it was already noticeable - like playing in slow-motion. I can't comment on the PC version in this respect.

- The story already seems very uninspired and the characters are quite wooden. Admittedly I haven't given it much of a chance yet, but it seems very 'old-school' and not in a good way. There's already a couple of elements which just don't make sense, such as Sebastian burning the bodies without any reason for him to do so at this point.

- Game-play is meh so far, but it's too early to comment on really.

On a positive note, the horror-elements are good so far and the game-play is genuinely tense. I'm looking forward to seeing some more of the enemies as I progress.

Runs fine for me on the PC, gets better the further in you get, after the slow start, i really enjoyed it, although i like these type of games, made me jump a few times while playing, love the way when you get spotted and they come after you, you get the dramatic music, and the heartbeat going to increase the tension, as you look for somehwere to hide :D

Nursies back, i knew she wasn't deed :(

Retried the demo and really got into it so have purchased a key! Great atmosphere and setting! Not sure about the story yet and main character is about as interesting as a brick wall but I'm looking past that! No scares yet but love the ammo scarcity etc playing on survival

I'm really enjoying it I think I might try and increase the field of view, not sure'. so far the atmosphere is amazing but I don't really know what's going on!

Game is still ok but is really starting to drag unfortunately, it's a bit too much of the same throughout that it feels like a bit of a chore! Will see it through, on act 11 ATM. Not found it scary yet but some settings have been spot on, others not so much. Playing on survival as I like the challenge and limited ammo aspect etc

Some times it's more frustrating that challenging though, main gripes are with weirdly decided auto saves but only had a few that have annoyed me :D

Weird, cuz I really think that's one of the strengths of the game. Constantly throwing new ideas and challenges at you, whether through new enemies, level design, bosses, encounter design, switching between stealth and action, etc.

Chapter 11 is the big 'action' level in the game.

I can understand that point of view for sure, and its a nice way of using loads of different environments that dont really need to relate in any way. I'm just getting a bit tired of getting to a point where you are dragged from one and thrown to another, it was neat at the start as it wasn't expected.

Playing The Assignment and damned if I can avoid that nurse in the heels and light head long enough for the power to be restored and get in to the lift. Tried about 20 times now with no success - closest I got was one light left to go - aaargh! Any tips for doing this part or is it just keep trying??

Keep trying & keep hiding it takes a while just stay out of sight & only move when she is not near you or create a distraction! That light in the face with the screeching sound is genuinely scary though

Just completed The Assignment. I'm not usually a fan of stealth focused games but this was really great. I really love this whole game. I'll say it again for anyone who hasn't tried this, it really feels like a modern Resident Evil 4 in how it plays so if you're a fan of RE4, you have to give this a go.
