The F1 2014 season

Bernie being rather stupid - the joker idea could actually work better. Even better, remove Monaco. It bores me so much I don't even watch it!

Bernie Ecclestone is master troll. You can almost picture him rolling on the floor laughing once he gets away from the microphone.

Do we have any news on the new McLaren title sponsor yet? Is it still to be announced "some when around the launch of the new car"?

Going back to McLaren Orange would be epic win, regardless of how fugly the car looks.

To be honest I wouldn't care what it looks like if it gets McLaren back on the Podium or winning again and I suspect Jenson and Kevin won't care a gnat's chuff either. There have been several ugly cars that have won races.

I thought the rules were stipulating a lower bulkhead next year too eliminating / reducing the stepped noses, not exaggerating them?

Has that changed?

Lower bulkhead, but an even lower nose. The issue isn't the stepped nose, but the minimum width of the nose forward of the bulkhead, with teams expected to keep them as narrow as possible to ensure there is still as much clean airflow as possible flowing under the chassis towards the sidepods. The dream some were having of a Brawn-style nose are all-but dead.

Anyone had a rival engine supplier just as a sponsor the year before an engine change?:D

(Im sure there is something in Merc's contract so this isnt allowed, and I guess it may not work in Honda's favour either if the team do as badly in 14 as they did in 13 but it would be funny).

As that impression goes I like that metallic orange, but with a title sponsor over it I can imagine it looking pretty foul.

From what I remember the non metallic orange from 20+ years ago looked great, but that one Im not so sure about.

Shows how the nose probably will look though

I think a few "experts" have said that although it's a good drawing, there are a few technicalities which mean the nose can't look like that. I actually think it's preferable to what I'm imagining the noses will end up like.

Unlikely. Just like THIS render, which was also posted by the same author - iirc, neither of these designs meet regs (2014 aero thread on F1technical has a fair bit of discussion about these renders).

It's likely variations of the 'finger nose' will be pretty common and Scarbs believes Caterham have just done that - HERE.

Scarbs did post a variation of the McLaren nose which is potential 2014 legal and doesn't look too bad -
