The FA CUP Quarter Final ** Spoilers ** [11th - 13th March 2017]

Kante gets a lot of plaudits for a player that loses the ball a lot. Lost it 15 times tonight.

He might not be the best on the ball, but find me someone with more tackles, more interceptions and more distance covered in virtually every game.

The plaudits he receives are without a doubt justified.

He have it away 15 times tonight...its no use making a shed load of tackles if they are of your own doing. I agree hes a good player but the plaudits in my opinion are well overboard at the moment.

That's exception to the norm though, he doesn't normally give the ball away that much. Even though he lost the ball a few times he still won man of the match, as well as a large portion of the studio time afterwards.

For what it's worth I don't recall him losing the ball 15 times.... he's absolutely top class, not even remotely overrated imo.

Source? I don't recall him giving the ball away any where near that.

Agree. People keep talking about him getting into every team in the league, world, universe but I don't see it. If you set up like Chelsea or Leicester then he's perfect and hugely valuable but not every team sets up like them.

That's not to say he's not an excellent player but he's a specialist for certain systems.

He did, i bet you a quid.

A fair amount of those were right at the beginning of the game under severe pressure from Utd where nearly every chelsea player gave the ball away.

88% pass completion this season and more interceptions and tackles won in the last three seasons than any other player (yet only been here for two). He is legitimately a brilliant player, fine if people think he's being overly lauded at the moment but that doesn't take away from the fact he's an excellent player.

Suprised teams don't pressure him more often. Liverpool done it to him at Stamford Bridge and he looked bang average that day.

I'm surprised more teams don't double up on Hazard, you could probably afford to commit two men to him given that Chelsea play Kante and Matic or Fabreagas in the centre of midfield, and realistically only Costa and Willian/Pedro are the other goal threats from open play. Everything good that Chelsea do in an attacking sense goes through Hazard. United obviously tried to get tight to him and take him out if necessary, but that's just going to get you yellow cards in modern football.

Quick comment on Herrera's yellow and the persistent fouling of Hazard. I've just seen the following law/directive post on twitter:

Where the referee sees a pattern of fouls directed against a single opponent, it is proper to warn the team that the pattern has been seen and then to caution the next player who continues the patter, even if this specific player may not have committed a foul against this single opponent.

Assuming that's correct, regardless whether you think Herrera's foul was worthy of a yellow in isolation, it would appear as if Oliver was correct in his action. He warned Smalling after the Jones foul about the challenges on Hazard and then cautioned Herrera for his challenge moments later.
