Shows how blind people are, Arshavin was great, he ran past people constantly, put in balls, but Leeds were defending for long periods with everyone in the box. Arshavin was trying and he did get good passes into the box. While Ramsey was also excellent in getting around the box and putting in some passes he was on the end of several of Arshavin's passes and his finishing, well, he put almost every shot well over the bar.
Did everyone expect Arshavin to go through 4 players, then score a goal as well and not doing so meant he was crap?
He had loads of the ball, made their defence panic, our positioning around the box wasn't great and Chamakh isn't a killer finisher or an up top striker, he stayed deeper and generally offered an target for a pass then laid it off, this worked great in his first 6 months with RVP and other players running off him, as a lone striker its not working well.
Ox was also very good, Arteta did a lot of nothing, Song got one pass right, very right and we lacked help on the flanks from wingbacks but that was to be expected.
Arshavin was also basically assaulted twice on the pitch, a massive shoulder barge to the head which was an easy yellow and close to a red for the absolute intent behind it, had that been an elbow most people would have called for a red, I see no difference. Later on you could argue the Leeds player genuinely went in to win the header but, he came in far to fast, and in a way that was always going to smash into Arshavin, absolutely reckless at best, at worst he intended to hurt him.
Isn't it funny that Leeds decided to target Arshavin for rough treatment, teams often try and rough up the guy playing badly.... don't they.
