The Fashion Thread... personal tastes, musings, and recommendations

Okay so it's january, and yeah I'm looking for summer clothes :p

Going to the British Virgin Isles next month, so need some decent shorts.

Anybody got any sites to reccommend? Most places seem to have the sizes for shorts no one wanted last summer (XS and XL)

Might as well post my new shoes in here. :p

English made brogues from Charles Tyrwhitt.

I like the jeans, where from?

They're light brown/coffee, the office lighting combined with a phone camera makes them look more yellow than they really are. :o

Never really liked diesel stuff. I have always found it overpriced although thinking about it my choice for plain straight jeans are levis and they're not that much better price wise. I get a reasonable amount from that shop called republic as it's cheap enough but yet looks half decent. Not a big fan of the Henleys look anymore despite owning a couple bits myself. I generally don't buy according to names but there are some shops I can't look in as i simply don't fit in their stuff. It's strange how clothes sizes vary, topman is just a no go and somehow i am a large/xL in Zara, yet say i'm getting a football shirt I generally always go for small or medium. God forbid if any of you larger guys needed to get anything from Zara or river island or something.

So what sort of stuff would I look at (I'm 21 if that helps anybody understand my decisions)

T-shirts
Polos are a favourite of mine, I generally don't pick by name just whichever is cheaper for the colour i want, I find Fred Perry and Lacoste seem to fit me better than most other brands.

As for other T-shirts I don't like getting expensive stuff as I seem to expand out of them or I ruin them whilst cooking. I generally always go for slim fitting plain t-shirts.

Examples of what i like:

Shirts
For going out to bars etc. i like short sleeve shirts and so on but for more formal shirts I love Hawes and Curtis shirts you can get some of their shirts for £30 and i find they fit really well.

Jeans
I have serious trouble getting jeans, being a 30 leg (yup im a short arse) my choices are somewhat limited. Plus doesn't help with my legs and arse being on the large size. I actually cannot wear a large proportion of jeans out there as they become skinny ones despite being standard straight ones. I find for straight leg generally only levis fit nicely. Otherwise i'll go for bootcut or the more baggy style G-star type.

Footwear

Well shoes i like just plain black or brown with no laces. As for trainers it has to be adidas originals especially superstars or onitsuka tigers, quite partial to puma drift cats too.

However being a student I now spend most of my time moping about in trackies or combats and hoodies as It's more comfortable.

How I wish I had money and wasn't back at uni, third year sucks.

I'm quite liking the following for a 'different' trendy bar type look at the moment:-

Fitted Dark blue Jeans
Brown belt
Brown shoes
Crisp white shirt
Dark grey Wasitcoat! :o

It stands out, which to me is important as I hate to look like everyone else in a bar. Looks smart but not too over dressed as the jeans make it casual enough.

Though I have to admit it depends on where you are going as to whether this look is suitable or not.

Feel free to shoot me down....

P.S. I have a week off work and I haven't posted/roamed the forums here for yonks.... I miss it!!!

Hahaha... Thanks matey, the new girlfriend seems to approve of the look anyway, and she's without a doubt a perfect 10 so i'll take her word for it :D

Anyway... good to be back... for a while at least!

Worked in Burton for 3 1/2 years, before i worked there i wasnt a fashionable person by any stretch!
I started with burtons own gear, and soon found it to be a tad cheap and crap. but again you get the occasional stuff that shocks you!
I agree pretty much with what you have said, although i do like super dry jeans as they fit me perfectly, i need to find a new blazer as the two i have dont fit my arms.

Also the suit website.....you are a bad bad person. im having to really stop myself ordering a new suit and overcoat lol
