The Fashion Thread... personal tastes, musings, and recommendations

My Method Jacket came today.

I love Addict's stuff, the details and quality are spot on, and their Method jackets and hoodies have, in my opinion, the best collar/stowable hood design ever.

£130 is what I spend in 2 years on clothes, IF I'm not buying a winter coat. £50 in Primark a year does me lovely.

I don't understand this.

Granted, I refuse (mostly) to spend ridiculous amounts on clothes, but come on.

If there's anything in anyone's life they use the most... it's clothes.

You might not see it, but if you dress like a piece of ****, people will notice.

Don't you want to look nice? I'm not aiming this at you personally btw, I know there are tons of people who feel the same way.

I don't spend ridiculous amounts of money on clothes, but I like variety and I like things that are nice. Every second you're outside your house, you're (hopefully!) wearing clothes. People make judgments on appearances and a HUGE part of that is what you wear.

I just don't get people who dress like crap every day.

I refuse to buy anything in Primark. I don't trust their CSR at all. Someone somewhere is getting very, very exploited for their prices to be that low and I'm surprised the press hasn't turned their business model over yet.

I'll generally wear whatever I find, from any store, that I think looks good -- whatever the cost. From Asda's George range to high street fashion chains, whatever. The label means nothing to me.

Most t-shirts are either general stuff with random designs and plain shirts, to movie themed stuff from retailers like Rotten Cotton and Creepy Tees in the US (HUGE horror bod, me!).

I don't dress like a piece of **** and if I did, I doubt it would ever occur to me to consider what people think. Maybe I'm a bit like a confused professor when it comes to these matters. Some things just don't occur to me or if it did, wouldn't be remotely of any importance.

I suppose my main 'fault' would be that I would have ZERO percent interest in the clothes you wear if I should meet you, and more whether you're a cool guy or not. In my head it counts for the other way around as well. It probably drips of cliche, but it's true nonetheless.

I have my vices I drop 1000's upon 1000's on. Clothes just aren't one of them.

I used to think the same as you for YEARS, until last year.

I think he is saying that there is nothing wrong in looking good. Put it this way, the girls that you turn heads to on the street are mostly the ones that looks nice right? They are more often or not look smart, dress nice right?

The point is that you can do the same, as a guy.

panorama or someone did a big investigation. made them look pretty damn bad. infact i think they promised some big changes off the back of it.

someone else at a similar time did an investigation on some of the named brands , same sorts of workers in the same conditions just with better starting materials and much bigger markups.

Nope, the girls who turn my head has a particular type smile, eyes, way she carries herself. Clothes comes into play 0% of the time. I mean, we all want to seem them without clothes anyway :p . Almost every single girl in London dresses like a million dollars, something is needed to set each one apart. The above-mentioned is what sets them apart for me. Not whether your skirt cost £500 or a fiver. The girl that really intrigues me is the one that rejects all fashion (really girls, wobbling around on 5 foot stilettos/stilts are comfortable?) and dresses for comfort and for herself.

I'll allow for my outlook to change (as yours did), but there will NEVER come a day where I'll spent stupid money on something as arbitrary as clothes. I just can't appreciate it as much as others. Sometimes I wish I did, but as of right now. Nope.

Nice smile lol, I knew you are going to say that.

But those girls who has a nice smile, they are not walking around dressed like a tramp aren't they?

Clothes are not arbitrary, in the same argument, you can say cars are too (A to B), so is big screen TV (you get the information just the same), big houses (how many room can you sleep in?), etc etc.

You do care about the way you dress, otherwise you would be turning up to a wedding in a tracksuit, to your graduation in your pyjamas. You just don't care to the same extent others.

I mentioned already that I have my vices. I would not tolerate a house with less than 5 rooms or a TV smaller than 46' dammit!

And believe me, if I could get away with my tracksuit at weddings, I'd be straight into it. Dressing for the occasion is a sign of respect to the party being celebrated, not a platform for my personal point of views.
