skinny tie is not cool.

navy blue is not cool.

cut of suit is quite good

****. Guess I'm not cool. Brb suicide.

Oh and it's not a full blown skinny tie. This one is sort of in the middle of a skinny and a normal tie.

And wtf is wrong with a navy suit? Jeez.

Looks like it fits well which is 90% of wearing a suit, irrespective of the branding, materials, colour. You spend so many people wearing ill fitting suits.

How much did you spend?

Indeed. I was going to go for a suit from TM lewin but I was in town earlier and tried on a few suits from Next and M&S. This one fitted nicely and looked pretty good so I went for it. The suit was £99 from Next. I also picked up a pair of H by hudson shoes for work for £50 from Asos.

I always get compliments. Now stick some shades on and pretend you're a secret agent

Regarding Charles Tyrwhitt business shirts, anyone that's even remotely thin and likes a shirt to look tailored should not bother with the slim fit versions, as they'll be too baggy.

I don't mind mine a bit loose as a) I like a more relaxed fit and b) my weight tends to fluctuate a lot between winter and summer, but for reference I'm 5'11", 85Kg, 35" waist, 40" hips, 42" chest, and I could easily get away with their tailored / Black Label shirts.

This is an important thing to consider with whatever you're buying, but shoes especially. We make some of the best shoes in the world in England, so 'Made in England' is something worth paying extra for with a good pair of shoes. Spend £200-£300 on a good pair and with care, there's no reason why they shouldn't last for 10 years.

Have a look at

I bought a really nice suit from Burberry recently, but I paid a little more for it because after looking at some Paul Smith suits 'Made in Portugal' and various other brands made around the world, this particular Burberry line was 'Made in Italy' and the quality of the cut and manufacture was visibly superior.

Thanks. They seem pretty expensive, especially when I want to purchase 3 pairs or so but certainly will consider them.

Keep a look out for the sales if you're not in a hurry, you can get some really good shoes for not much more than you'd pay for a pair in Top Man.

They are nice. They look quite shiny though. Obviously shiny shoes are nice but I don't want to blind people :p Might just be the photo.

Not got my size, as per bloody usual.

Mhmmm not a fan to be honest, bit of an inelegant and blunt design especially for 120 quid. Personally i've now migrated from laceless slip-ons (which I used to swear by) to laced formal shoes. They look so much smarter in general. However in comparison to the shoes you posted I much prefer the styles from Base and Ted Baker, and they are cheaper too. Check Samuel Windsor out, they have some great (handmade) designs and outrageously cheap prices in comparison to mainstream designer brands. http://www.samuel-windsor.co.uk/

I just want some simple black shoes for a reasonable price and don't mind paying a bit extra if it means some poor sod hasn't died in the process of them being made.

This seems to be mission impossible. I don't want anything fancy. Not too shiny, nothing flashy, just simple.

I'm put off by brown shoes - would they be a no-no with a black suit? More suited to a blue suit?

Check my edit. :p

Check my edit too please!

Brown shoes DO go with a black suit when they are dark brown and ALWAYS accompanied by a matching brown belt (same goes for whatever colour shoes you wear). Try and avoid tan brown if you don't want to look a bit daft in a business environment. However black shoes with black suit and belt can never fail, and should be the staple of any business wardrobe. Be more creative with the shirts and tie (but never combine striped shirt and striped tie, or striped suit and striped shirt) if you like, but try and leave the core basics intact and co-ordinated.

IMO x 10.

They look nice but very shiny, I guess all shoes of this sort will be? The website says hand made but doesn't say where they're made. Still, very reasonable price! Thanks :) Think I will after to order some!

Yeah, I agree with dark brown. I am going to buy some new suits too, shall I go for a dark blue so I can get some brown shoes to complement? Always nice to be different.

Shoes in the first link are fine, the picture only is making them look overly shiny (due to bright lighting used in the photo), in real life they will be darker. Second link is broken. :)
