The Fashion Thread... personal tastes, musings, and recommendations

Hmm that's pretty neat.

I've ordered one in dark blue. perfect for work as well. If it's decent then I'll order more in other colours. The fit in the pictures is similar to how I fit into them also so should be fine for sizing I think.

Ah, interesting. Hmm, I'll sleep on it, maybe order the blue tomorrow. Considering the bright green too.

I just ordered the blue. 10 to 20 days for delivery :(

I also really want a green crew neck, exactly this colour but hard to find. In fact, I'd like the exact top but don't think I can get it. It's from some french 2012 collection which I saw on a facebook page relating to 'Lexuomo'. https://www.facebook.com/lexuomo/ph...0.1456158955./347474181961069/?type=3&theater

Supplier is based in China. Needless to say, that means their XL will just fit a small boy. Hope you ordered accordingly! :p

Well, I am massively loving the Adidas range of trainers at the moment. I bought:

Adidas Dragon white gold http://www.jdsports.co.uk/webapp/wc...ngId=-1&parent_category_rn=&productId=1584712

Adidas Dragon navy white http://www.jdsports.co.uk/webapp/wc...angId=-1&parent_category_rn=&productId=689061

They just really toe the line between smart and casual and go with so many things.

I also want:

Adidas Rom Vintage http://www.trainerstation.com/adidas-vintage-brown-leather-trainers-p-540.html

I can see me building up a small collection of Adidas Original ranges and colours... :o

What does anyone here think of this? I wanted a blue sweater but hadn't considered anything with a pattern. I like the look of this but being from china, not sure if it'll be rubbish.

Hmm I also imagine sizing would be a bit suspect, and not sure I would trust that the materials are 100% natural. Quality control too. I just don't see a reason to buy from Chinese suppliers when you can get decent and reasonably priced stuff in the EU that is more reliable in quality.n

The Adidas trainers haven't changed in decades it seems to me. Not like that's a bad thing, they are nice. Pricey for what they are though, can get a pair of converse for cheaper.

Converse look toop teeny for me, whereas the Adidas are pretty sleek and have an elegance about them.

I agree about converse.

Out of those I would go for the Adidas Dragon Navy White. I think the Navy would go with more trousers/chinos/jeans/shorts than the brown. The white are nice but again the Navy is more flexible.

Yeah the Navy go with a lot, as do the white, but brown is also an essential colour imo! Sadly I can't find those brown ones I linked in stock anywhere... :(

I do actually love the brown too and would certainly wear them. But I just felt the navy was more of a typical trainer (and I have a bit of a thing about suede at the moment,). I have lots of brown shoes and would be more inclined to wear desert boots or chukkas if wearing brown casual shoes with jeans etc. But I can absolutely see the attraction of them.

Get all of them :)

Ooh, today I found these... Adidas Chile 62

Saw them yesterday and fell in love with them, then saw the price and thought "sod that, I'll Google them and get them online". Well, nowhere has them new online the UK or where I live, nor on Ebay or Amazon, and all of the shops I went to didn't have them either. Seems they're like hens teeth, probably why the price was so eye-watering. I bantered with the guy selling them and he knocked me £12 off which made it slightly more bearable. Weirdly I am a UK size 10 and had to get a size 11.5 for them to fit properly.

They are absolutely lovely though, they look sweet as hell and and the raw leather is just gorgeous and very seems hard-wearing so I'm pretty sure these will wear very well for a long time to come. :)

Quick question about sizes. Is every manufacturer different or is there a standard sizing guide? I am trying to buy a few hoodies and t-shirts online and I cant work out whether to go for L or XL, Some size guides say L is 40" chest and some sites say 42", for the same make of hoodie (firetrap). I'm leaning toward XL as my chest is 42" and I have wide shoulders, so dont want to end up with it being too tight.

Sorry if this isn't the place to ask, just thought someone here might know.

Why would a fashion thread not be the place to ask about clothing sizing... common sense, surely? :)

The answer is that while there is of a standard and universal sizing model for different types of clothing, each manufacturer often interprets it differently, with an M in one brand being an L in another and vice versa. The only real way to be sure is trying something on, or if you are buying blind then just order a couple of sizes and return one of them when you find which fits.

The blue one mentioned arrived today, it is a slim fit, just like in the model pictures for it on the auction page. Quality is very good actually, better quality threading than stuff I'd normally get in River Island and the like, it's thicker and feels like it will wear longer.

For the price, it's a no brainer. I might go for the next size up when I order another colour though as while this is slim, it doesn't leave too much room for growth!

You can however smell the seewing machine oils that were no doubt in the air in the child labour Chinese workshop factory floor while it was being made

Finally got the 'build' then mrk? :p

I don't mind buying from China depending on the item, but haven't bought any clothes from there yet, items do take a few weeks to arrive but that doesn't matter if you're not in a hurry. Plus from what I've seen they sell some cool clothes that you can't get from the UK.

Thanks, yeah I think thats my best bet. Its a shame some of the items I am interested in are only available in XL or L. It's only £2 for a return label, so i'll get a few different sizes.

The guide on the Firetrap website has XL as 46-48, but thats sounds way too big.

Hey mrk, collected mine today. Haven't taken it out the packet yet, jut hope I ordered a suitable size. It says L on the packaging, but I assume that's the asian size as I wanted small. Looks to be good quality as you mentioned, but I'm not sure the photo represents the same shade of blue from the original listing, what do you think? I was expecting it to be lighter blue. Still, it's a nice enough colour. They kindly enclosed a free pair of white ankle socks though which is a nice touch.

The one I bought:
