The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

he mad

LJtiV9H.jpg

Not mad at all :D

Just speaking facts, 980ti is faster than the Fury X, and now you can buy a 980ti sub £500, why go AMD?

No HDMI 2.0 (Crazy decision)
No crossfire support for most new releases (Having to wait weeks, months sometimes)

I'll leave you all in peace so you can get back to sticking your heads in the sand :D

we still dont know for sure if the 980ti is better, not until there is voltage unlock, even so it doesn't really matter that much which high end card you buy right now because 16nm is very soon and it will clear the board

Do you have the monitor there then?

Both drivers. The cable is VESA certified

I think so, but if not we'll get hold of one.

I used to have this same monitor so could have tested it myself but i sold it to Uncle Petey not long ago. Was a great panel apart from the brick issue.

I recall you having one yeah. Not yet happened on my other 4K Phillips but I've not really used it much on that panel yet. Getting audio pop on that panel as well (bdm4065uc), but I'm using a 10ft cable there. Again though, no problems on the Titans.

Appreciate you taking the time but I've been at this crossroads twice already

It's interesting that he puts emphasis on not going to three way as I would agree with that sentiment. Both parties need to put some time into smoothing out three and four way scaling. It really shouldn't come about that people are recommending not making use of these features when they are there. They are becoming increasingly neglected. I've actually spoken to a couple of software engineers at NVIDIA in the past couple of weeks because it's becoming quite clear XDMA at the very least has superior frame scaling, and something really needs to be done about it lol.

Totally clueless this guy is.

He would not recognise a CPU bottleneck if it hit him over the head.

I just noticed on their article page it looks like they're running a stock 3960X. No mention of an OC on it. :/

I have to say, I'm still impressed by AMD's improved Frame time variance and scaling. My last foray into it was horrible.

Also the Power consumption on 3 cards in both camps looks lower than I expected. I might not have to get a anew PSU to get my 3rd GPU.

Okay, Sapphire wanted me to wait around 3 weeks for a replacement unit, and the current fury x I have gives me a headache after about an hour.

So the Sapphire is going back. I have just ordered a Gigabyte Fury X from Caseking, as they had at least one in stock this morning. Hoping to get a working unit, but who knows, at least I won't have to deal with Sapphires customer care any more, as to be honest, it took a week just to find out it was going to take another 3 week.

Just to show scaling past 2 cards does work I just did this. Check the FPS in top left corner.

2160p
BF4 Max settings
Training ground
4 stock EVGA SC TXs
5960X @4.5

And I am still CPU bottlenecked and limited by the fps cap in the game lol.

Yeah once I noticed he used a stock x79 3960X, he lost credibility for me.

Even with my two 980Ti's I saw a boost going from stock 5820K to 4.3Ghz at 1440p.

Then TweakTown also showed a worst case scenario for the old platforms in 4 way scaling as well.
Even when it's not the worst case, the fact that he ran the CPU at stock is incredibly silly. I don't OC my GPU's, but the CPU is so important for multi card systems

Kaap, you can remove the 200 fps limit in bf4 with a command line in a user.cfg file. Would be interesting to see what your max is.

I've two on order from a competitor and I've been pressing them about their ETA date changes and return policy on the pump whine, the response I got was,
AMD's stance is that only some of the launch cards had this issue. However they have informed us that all future fury X shipments will have a fix for the whine issue that is being reported on.

So judging from that and the new ETA of the 31st July, me thinks I'll be getting a revised version. :D

Fingers crossed, only 3 more weeks to wait.

Not much more than 200, it was just nudging 200 stood still.

If I removed the cap and overclocked the GPUs I think I could hit 220 to 230 fps on the training ground. Having said that in the actual game fps are a little lower.

The other problem is the CPU is still bottlenecking the cards.

I'm in the same boat, got 2 on order with a local retailer. Spoke to the guy today and he said that the manufacturer had issued a recall on the first revision of cards so they're waiting on new stock arriving. The wait is killing me as I currently don't have a spare card to throw in my machine:p
