The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

Plonked the fury back in again today and the whine is immediately noticeable. Just a constant annoying drone that gets on your **** after a few minutes. Thats card number 2 winging its way back to germany this week. :(

This has to be the most pathetic launch of a product in some time, barely any stock to start with, the places that do have stock in the uk bend you over with their ludicrous mark up, and to top it all off the pump whine is still an issue so its a lottery when buying the card as to your chances of getting a quiet one.

Well done amd, nickel and diming really paid off in the end, instead of going with the proven asetek rad and pump you opted to cheap out and its cost you sales.

Ye getting a 980Ti wouldnt have made much sense for you greg considering you already have a TX.

Those caselabs do look great, was thinking about using one for a prev build but they seem to be made to order which takes weeks so I went with bitfenix shinobi instead

I wasnt sure what you meant with 1440p performance on the fury x,
I have a 144hz one but I dont think I'd expect a single card to max that on GTAV ultra, im expecting it will average around 90 fps in most games with the fury x. I'm not sure how much I will use the 1440p 144hz though as it is a little too large to fit on my usual desk and could do with being wall mounted or something.

Matt!!!

While your about, can you run the valley benchmark in OpenGL please on the Extreme preset on one of your fury's please :D

Whyscotty did a run but it was on DX :(

Sorry Matt, missed this

I was speaking with Shane Parfitt on Friday have emailed him info on the scaler. It happened once again on Friday but I've not used the machine since, will grab a video tomorrow if I get time...

We've got the monitor and an engineer ready to test, but need the above before we attempt to repro.

lol, ok will have to wait till tomorrow as it's on a bench in the office. Run on balanced power scheme with link state active on Win 8.1 - don't run any 3rd party applications like AB and leave the system for 20 to 30 minutes. Turn heat down to 180 and leave for a further 10 minutes and take out and apply hundreds and thousands.

ok, today I tried GTA V on my 2x fury x. Enabled VSR, xfire, launched the game and it straight away selected 4k resolution, everything at max and we are off butter smooth.
Went into graphics settings, everything at ultra, except some things I left out previously when I was still playing with 290x. So vram usage was already at 7Gb out of 8gb. What is this magic? Is GTA V a dx12 game? :D Anyway. Set grass, and everything else to ultra, distance scaling to max, and streaming thingies to on. And fps is at damn 50min and 100+max. Well impressed. Oh and vram usage went to 8102MB.
Oh, and vsync was disabled.

Couple of things Matt if I may. Game menu fps drops to 3-6fps quite often when vsr is selected. Might want to look into it when you have a chance.
Also with vsr game benchmark is blank screen with fps counter at the bottom and fps are around 30 or so, so have nothing to do with actual game playability.

Also tried ingame frame scaling on top of 4k :D 30fps I think it was. Steam fps counter is very small, so cannot tell. But obviously game feels sluggish.

Unfortunately online mode is not smooth but kinda choppy but still high fps. Not very comfortable, but single player, oh dear looks great runs fantastic.

These two cards were bought specifically for this purpose and they deliver, well worth it ;)

I returned a perfectly fine and quiet Fury X last week for a 980ti. One reason was because I too was a little disappointed with the performance in GTA5.

Now the ti is a little better and I can also enable MSAA and advanced settings with everything mostly at Ultra and stay around 60.

However after just suffering my 12th Blue Screen in a week, I'm wondering if I made the right choice! These nvidia drivers are terrible.

Weird bug indeed. Maybe Joe or Matt know why?

I have the Sapphire AMD Radeon R9 FURY X and a
Samsung U32E850R 4k 32" FREESYNC Gaming Widescreen LED Monitor

I do Not have the pump whine issue, I do have a 1250 power supply though and don't have the problem with screen using DP full to DP mini cable that came with monitor.

Mine has the sticker on it though

I never said about me being disappointed in GTA V performance. On contrary I am absolutely blown away by my cards performance on GTA V and also blown away by how easy AMD drivers and GTA V itself sorted all the details and resolution for me. And that VRAM thingy is still mystery to me.

GTA 5 getting 60-70 FPS runs very smooth on 15.7 drivers, had no crashes at all, only problem is 3dmark it closed itself once and 3dmark says GRAPHICS DRIVER IS NOT APPROVED.

Also does any of you Freesync/G-Sync buyers realize that you just have been locked in into single vendor GPUs till your monitors/TVs die? Let's say AMD really screws up or worse bankrupt, so all the freesync users will be with useless feature since nVidia is to capitalistic of the pig to support the standard. And let's say nVidia screws up real bad, or better bankrupts (sorry couldn't resist :D ). So all you G-Sync owners will be even worse off with overpriced useless feature, because there is no logical reason for AMD to support an expensive standard which they have already free alternative :/

Futuremark goes through approval process on their own, so it takes time for them to approve it. It has nothing to do with nVidia or AMD

No because FreeSync is just AMD driver! Adaptive-Sync is Open Standard!

So one day if Nvidia stop locking there stuff up they might, just might enable there driver to support Adaptive-sync then we all win.
