The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

Locked in? It prevents me from selling the monitor, or moving it to being a side panel?
Curse you NVIDIA!

obviously I am not talking about multimillionaires who can afford multiple monitors of that caliber, and resellers are different breed altogether ;) So it is ok for you to lose money when selling your used panel, and then get another one, just because some company is kinda crap?

I am absolutely surprised at how people are reacting to this kind of situation, as if everything is cool, and we still will find some kind of excuse to support these kind of practices.

That's the basic price they should have been. The 509 and 599+ were "deals" :p

But it wouldn't make sense to jack up the price for the card which does not sell, even though it is very rare. Obviously demand is bigger than the supply right now, so that £20 increase is nothing to people who still want to buy them. Also you guys will still whine regardless of the prices, be it 529 or 429. In second case you guys will come up with reasons that fury x is not selling or is crap, etc.

I don't see an issue. I got it after owning the 34" LG 34UM95-P, and like to try new tech.

There was no decent FreeSync monitor when I got my SWIFT, still no decent one. Best is 30-90Hz :/
The market will decide, but I do hope FreeSync can get to that 1-244hz max range Adaptive Supports. Would be nice if NVIDIA also uses it, but at the moment they have a better product and it probably won't happen any time now.

AMD haven't changed the price. It's just ocuk reverting the prices to standard like gibbo said they would before release. Silly prices for release then rrp after sometime. It's not a "jack up of pricing" in the same way when a weekend deal finishes it isn't either.

Btw I've already bought one. I'm not whining about the price and I'm not saying the 529 price will discourage or encourage people to buy them. It just brings ocuk in line with all the other retailers

ok, today I tried GTA V on my 2x fury x. Enabled VSR, xfire, launched the game and it straight away selected 4k resolution, everything at max and we are off butter smooth.
Went into graphics settings, everything at ultra, except some things I left out previously when I was still playing with 290x. So vram usage was already at 7Gb out of 8gb. What is this magic? Is GTA V a dx12 game? :D Anyway. Set grass, and everything else to ultra, distance scaling to max, and streaming thingies to on. And fps is at damn 50min and 100+max. Well impressed. Oh and vram usage went to 8102MB.
Oh, and vsync was disabled.

Couple of things Matt if I may. Game menu fps drops to 3-6fps quite often when vsr is selected. Might want to look into it when you have a chance.
Also with vsr game benchmark is blank screen with fps counter at the bottom and fps are around 30 or so, so have nothing to do with actual game playability.

Also tried ingame frame scaling on top of 4k :D 30fps I think it was. Steam fps counter is very small, so cannot tell. But obviously game feels sluggish.

Unfortunately online mode is not smooth but kinda choppy but still high fps. Not very comfortable, but single player, oh dear looks great runs fantastic.

These two cards were bought specifically for this purpose and they deliver, well worth it ;)

I never said about me being disappointed in GTA V performance. On contrary I am absolutely blown away by my cards performance on GTA V and also blown away by how easy AMD drivers and GTA V itself sorted all the details and resolution for me. And that VRAM thingy is still mystery to me.

We put software engineers on optimising our video memory usage in our Catalyst drivers to make 4GB HBM sufficient for 4K. I mentioned it here a while back, but people were skeptical then that i was simply lying.

I wouldn't be wary at all with two cards, simply for the fact that I'm seeing noticeably lower Video Memory usage at 4K using the FuryX.

Check this out, smooth 50-60fps gameplay playing GTA V maxed out with MSAA at x4 and look how much video memory usage 3663MB. :)

It's amazing what can be done when you improve video memory utilisation at driver level.

Shadow of Mordor with the High Res Texture pack plays nicely too and what does that use 6.5GB of GDDR5 at 4K? :)

Quick question if i may guys,

Just trying to see what sort of scores i can get in Heaven Valley when overclocked and it's failing, but i've noticed that any crashes i have in games or benchmarks when overclocked such as this, it's not giving me any "Driver stopped responding" message, instead my system just shuts down and restarts.

Could me thinking as to whether my PSU is up to the task, EVGA NEX650G.

My CPU is @4.6 @1.32v, have 3 fans in the system, 2x Corsair SP's on the rad cooling the water for my cpu, 200mm phanteks up front, XSPC Dual res and pump, 2 SSDs and of course the Fury X.

Checking EventViewer shows a lot of critical events "Kernel Power".

Am i asking too much?

seems the PSU isnt up for the task.
drop the overclock on the cpu and test :)

Cheers Flopper,

Just tested it with the CPU at stock and the same thing happened, system restarted, so i guess i can rule out it's a lack of power issue :)

Just the card need more volts.

I get the same Reece. I have been benching all morning and any time I crash, it has resulted in a lockup and then it just restarts. It is a shame that I can't push for 1120Mhz and have had to settle on 1100Mhz as I was getting fed up of it bombing out.

Crap overclocks and it won't improve much when voltages are unlocked.

Sounds dreamy

Okok I know it's getting reallllllly old now :p

Good to know i'm not the only one Greg cheers bud, exactly the same clocks as me too, GTA V crashes for me @1100, dropping to 1080 but it's hardly worth it for the performance gains. i really do hope that the cards improve with unlocked voltage, at the moment i'm a little "Meh" over it all, going to wait out for unlocked voltage, if that doesn't help much i'm selling up and getting a HOF 980Ti.

At this rate that line AMD said about it being an "Overclockers dream" looks more like a nightmare.

lol. It makes me chuckle and it was a bit naughty to say that with the amount of overclocking that is available.

I just bombed out running Thief at 1100Mhz :( I will stick with it though, as I am comparing max stable overclocks on the TX and FX for my next video. Hopefully it was just a one off and 1100Mhz will stay stable for the rest of my tests.

Very interesting video in regards to input latency for FreeSync on Fury X and G-Sync on 980Ti.

The results at very high FPS, and low is very interesting if you also have V-Sync on with and without the Adaptive tech.

TLDR?

It's weird very weird. Depends entirely on use case and your FPS range per game.

At High FPS, at low 200's and 144 FreeSync is better with V-Sync off, and G-Sync with it on.

At the so called sweet spot aka around 45 FPS, things get weird. G-Sync does even worse, and FreeSync is little bit better when you use V-Sync as well. Here you want V-Sync off if using G-Sync

What a crazy set of results, at different framerates, Freesync and G-sync excel over the other in terms of consistency and absolute latency results depending on v-sync being on or off!
