The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

I wouldn't worry about heat and noise bud, as long as you have decent airflow it'll be fine, custom fan profile on AB and mine never break 50c.

Ive got decent airflow, space, got a 200mm top as an out, 200mm front as in, 140mm rear as out, and a 140mm bottom as in.

My 290X gets to around 87 now at 1440p, on auto fan, and got it oc'd to 1080 on the core.

Setting up custom profiles is an option. :p

People being put off by this whine should also remember a lot of GPUs from both amd and nvidia has been fighting this for sometime now..
You could very well skip the furyx and buy a G1 only to be in the same situation. It seems in this day and age coil whine is everywhere and until a 100% fix is out we all going to be gambling. So far in all my years building my own systems I been lucky enough to not have to put up with coil whine.
Will we ever see a 100% fix?

Yup, seems the odd drip of stock shows up and its more often than not one with a gimped pump. I could go and order 2 from caseking now but i'd do my nut if i got them and they had the pump issue. Since some of these cards have literally just showed up for the first time there, (powercolor and vtx) you'd think that they would be the revised units. But its not something i want to put to the test. :(

Funny when you think about it, amd badly need sales, theres cards to be had but people are reluctant to buy them because of dodgy ones still doing the rounds.:mad: You'd think the the obvious thing to do would to be recall affected stock, get the pumps sorted and get them back out but nope.

Yeah im reluctant to try and grab a one thats in stock now/comes in now, as i figure if i wait for my pre-order one, end of the month, theres a better chance its not a whiner, what with the time its taking, could be that long due to them now revising them, little part of me still thinks it could be a whiner though, and that'll be an absolute ****** if so, waiting the time i have.

I think the point is that Fury X pump noise is a lot more high frequency and pervasive than your average coil whine and it happens even at idle. Nice try though. ;)

Nice try for what? Its still a gamble Whine or Pump noise either way they is working units and they is units that seem faulty.

My point still stands you can buy any High end GPU on the market now and will never know 100% till you run it if it has these issues.. Something needs to change!

The Pump Noise on the FuryX is a faulty unit if you buy and it has pump noise you get that changed simple as that! am talking about Coil Whine!

The first and most asked question is going to be........

HOW

:p

Yup, and you cannot blame his response in the comment under the video.

its not straight forward and requires probing the i2c bus there are bugs and it is nowhere near 100% stable so i would rather not reveal how iv accomplished it yet until its 100%. dont want people to pop their brand new cards

What I'm more interested in, is when are new cards going to be in stock. Any more updates after the management meeting yesterday?

I would suggest posting up in the CS section (if you haven't already) our Sales team will be able to update you as soon as they have any more information, Sorry I can't be of more help.

I will Speak to Josh, He's doing some Benching currently, we will see if we can get a better video and a guide of how it was done.

Yeah doubt it would go down well with the bosses, well my 4x turned up, and they are all whining like absolute ****, unbearable noise, well ****** off, i am too returning em for Ti's.

I'm not even ordering until I know you guy's are getting revised models. I keep almost ordering the Sapphire Fury but I've gotta hold off because after my 290x I'm not chancing getting another 400 quid room heater.

Can confirm that he didn't get any ones with whine issues. As has previously been stated, only a small batch of cards had this issue. Since then a fix has been implemented.

RIP Whinegate

I'm doubting it was that small, plenty of people on youtube with vids of the issue, reviewers as well. I had a gigabyte and a sapphire both had it, another user on here went through 4 cards and they all had it. Pc-per bought 3 xfx cards and they all had it as well.

AMD can try and downplay this all they want but the fact is there is stock of the card in some places and people are reluctant to buy them because the issue still seems to be affecting cards that are doing the rounds currently.

Im not doubting it, as i bet theres not even 50 cards out there yet, so if every one out there whos managed to get one got a whiner, it'd be a small batch. :p
