The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

...and one only has a crippled HDMI "2.0-ish" port and one already comes with watercooling and and and...

It's a wash.

980 and up has fully functioning HDMI 2.0 and the Fury X has HDMI 1.4, Nothing crippled about either.

such a lie.

:D

Its an absolute appalling launch this, lets be honest, AMD have massively failed, they shouldn't have launched them when they did, should have launched them when they had a decent amount ready, so what if people had waited nigh on 2yrs for you to launch something new, another month or so wouldn't have mattered, especially if that other month or so, meant a decent quantity of cards, so people could actually get a one.

Everywhere you look its a, due xxxx, and the dates are just coming and going, its utterly ridiculous, no wonder everyones just flocking to the Green side.

Thank god they did launch now, If they hadn't but had instead waited on the stock to build up we would have ended up with all of them being whistlers.

The faulty pump was a feature on a very limited batch of early cards and this unfortunate situation has been completely remedied by now, nothing to worry.

Well, it is official! I am no longer a Fury X owner :( Posted 10 mins ago. I will miss it and some good pluses overall for the Fury X.

Is it even a fault though? it probably went something like this in reality:

AMD: Hi Coolermaster, NVidia have just torpedoed our Fury X launch by releasing their 980Ti and we need to cut manufacturing cost, can you help?
Coolermaster: We have some proper **** pumps you can have at a discount.
AMD: Awesome, thanks.
Media: "Fury X has whiny pumps."
AMD: "It's limited to a small batch of non-retail cards."
*reports pop up all over the internet of whiny pumps on retail cards*
AMD: It's all Coolermaster's fault, we're demanding that they release a new pump revision for our premium card.
*Coolermaster change the pump sticker*
AMD: **** it, we'll just not bother releasing any Fury X it's costing us too much. Send out some press releases that we can't keep up with demand.

My cards don't have a whine, I'm sure Gibbo could confirm if I've sent any back to OcuK. :)

That will never happen. I'm not sure my ears could take going back to hot and loud cards, I'm still struggling to get used to having a silent QuadFire setup running at 50-55C under heavy load. :p

:D

It would be nice if you could upload a video of your silent QuadFire non-whine Fury X's. Just a quick demonstration showing low noise is feasible.

I bought a R9 Fury X from a competitor two weeks ago. Like many unhappy customers my card had the "high pitched whine" It was unbearable. I personally brought the card back for a refund, funny thing was, as I waited in the queue I overheard another customer complaining his card had same problems.. Small batch of cards had this issue? I think not..

It's called "damage limitation".

No one associated with AMD is going to say, "yeh, basically most of the first production run has the bodgit and scarper pump fitted".

Wouldn't be good for business.

So what you're saying is they are lying?

Can't imagine AMD EVER misleading or lying about anything ;)

Look forward to the video of Matt's 4 silent cards, side off case job with phone in nice and close so we can all bask in the silence :)

Just a guess but the growing number of folk buying 4K TV's?

Maybe it would have been a good idea to implement it and judging by the response that AMD are releasing an adapter (Yeah right!) they know they cocked up AGAIN :p

Some good 4k TVs also coming with DisplayPort.. Crazy I know TVs can have displayport.

Only select few Panasonics so far, with prices running upwards from 1300€ for a 2014 model largely out of stock already.

Google finds me a 40 "Philips BDM4065UC £506
LED monitor W-LED, 5000: 1, 300cd / m2, 4K UHD 3840x2160, Display Port, 1x HDMI, D-Sub, 4x USB, VESA 200x200, repro 2x 7W

Yes because HDMI 2.0 is not the industry standard now is it LOL

You really need to be employed by AMD, they need to snap you up now :D

No am just pointing out they is other options out there and not just HDMI 2.0 that you seem to believe is the end all for anyone wanting 4K TV and AMD GPU!

They is always other options!
