The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

No idea if it's an error on Overclockers website or not but the Sapphire is showing as 3 in stock.

They must be selling, 10+ of those a couple of days ago.

Damn it, missed them. They didn't last long. I wanted a 5th for a second rig. :(

that was the Pro wasnt it?

doesnt show on the fury stock page, only when you click the sapphire do they show. might be put onto the system for clearance line?

No it was the Sapphire Fury X in stock, but they're gone now. I saw them and paused for two minutes to think, refresh the page they were gone. :D

Cool (hah !) thanks Matt. Yeah, sadly the stock fan will have to come off if I'm to keep my case working as it should. I'm not worried about the performance of the Nidec lol.

The fan on the Fury X is a Nidec Servo Gentle Typhoon, it's an excellent fan and virtually silent most of the time. You probably don't want to replace it because there's not many other fans out there which are better.

It's quite hard to explain dude. Basically my case (the new Alienware Area 51 R2) has two front fans and a rear fan (on the CPU AIO) fitted as standard. They're 4 pin Nidecs, but, they have what is almost like a MAF sensor fitted into the side of them so that the case can measure the airflow. It's very, very clever and part of why you pay the Alienware premium.

Any way, because of that the fans can then be controlled fully using the Alienware Thermal app. Think of it as basically Afterburner for your case. Due to that I don't want to be replacing any of those fans because it will mess with the thermal controller and I won't get the same level of cooling I get now.

The fans on the case are Nidecs also, so I won't be sacrificing any performance. I just want it to look stock, and also work stock. I'll post some pics of before and after :) Just a bit hard using my little 10 inch netbook.

Does that effect warranty matt?

Unless you break/damage something you should be okay, but don't take my word as gospel because I'm not 100% sure.

AMD said:
AMD’s product warranty does not cover damage to your graphics card or system caused in whole or in part by removing, modifying or reinstalling the AMD Radeon Fury X faceplate, which activities you agree to carry out at your own risk. AMD will not provide replacement faceplates for any faceplates lost or damaged, nor will AMD be liable for any damages to the graphics card or your system caused during the removal, modification or reinstallation of the faceplate.

Perfect size for a 4K monitor :)

Looking good, i would find it a little big for how close you are, do you find the pixel density to be similar to a 24in monitor when sat that close? wouldn't that void the point of the higher resolution?

I like the obligatory 'i shall leave the side of the case off for this picture' routine. :D :p

I don't have a choice, fellas. Here is my case empty with no GPU

The fan I want to use.

And the airflow sensor that's wired into the front fan.

So I have to use that, like it or not. If I don't I will get all sorts of errors from the thermal software.

Not got enough room for both fans? push pull?

at least that way you don’t risk the warranty :D
