The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

A couple of the reviews stated that what sounded like coil whine was actually bearing whine from the pump. Something which AMD told them was fixed in the final revision shipping to customers (but not in the pre-production units sent to reviewers). That would explain the difference, and as there've been no reports of the whine yet, it would seem it's correct.

Reduce or fix in final version. Just to be correct.

I'm lost? Why would you buy a fury x for a 60hz monitor and have vsync on?

My 780 does 60 fps at 1080p

This. DX12 may be round the corner but we wont see the benefits until next year really (games coded from the ground up),by which time new cards will be due. Judge it on whats here now not what may be in the future

Ashes of the Singularity (RTS by Oxide) is THE game coded from the ground up for Mantle => DX12 / Vulkan. The alpha / beta drops as soon as W10 does ...

Currently it's by far the greatest graphical / game world complexity spectacle there is.

Its a good way to do it. Get results out in the open showing competing performance.....wait a while and put a driver set out that turns it up to 11!

Nah, it is totally the wrong way to do it.

Just look at how many 980Ti's ocuk alone have shipped today. Over 500 according to Gibbo. Many of these are people who would have opted for the Fury had the reviews not been a bit meh. These are all lost sales to AMD, some of which will also have now bought in to the Nvidia ecosystem with G-Sync meaning they are unlikely to go back to AMD for some time.

Yes, driver performance will improve over time. But to try and say that releasing the cards when driver performance is so poor (relatively speaking) is the right way to do it is way off the mark.

For what it is worth, I like the Fury from what I have seen. It may not be as good as some of the pre release hype (not from AMD themselves) would have suggested, but it does offer comparative performance to the Nvidia top tier cards.

Still, I am baffled by the decision to go with HDMI 1.4a

Sounds good. I know deus ex is dx12 as well but I will make sure I play AOTS :)

Nice scores. Far Cry 4 is demanding from the little I have played of it.

How do those FPS compare with your TX at same settings?

Silly questions, but does the Fury X comes with screws to attach the radiator to a mount?
Also what is the size of the radiator mount? 120mm? 140mm?

Yes it does mate, and it's 120mm mounting. You can reverse the fan if needed.

Titan X loves a bit of Far Cry 4 as well. I normally run with V-Sync only off now for testing. Unless I chuck it back in I can't say 100%.

I can say this so far with Fury X today and experience with Titan X.

Fury X is more than enough for 1080P, Titan X is more than enough for 1080P. We know that Fury X scales really well with higher resolution so I don't see any reason not to consider this card at whatever resolution.

I think as we move forward new high end cards will be tuned for high res and mid range might end up better for lower res. But we can use VSR / DSR on 1080P screens with higher end cards for them to perform optimal and get benefit of better graphics on lower res screens.

You can also mount another fan for push-pull, and take some old fan's gut them, and use them as shrouds to space the fans away from the surface causing a natural exhaust/draw effect and also to help with cooling across for surface area of the fins... blah blah blah...

I was looking at a Samsung S6 Edge as it has a 16 mega pixel camera.

Carl Zeiss has a nice ring to it though as I used to do photography and had a couple of Mamiya RZ67s with a good set of lenses.

That would be a great name for a graphics card "RZ 67".:D

The Sony RX100 MK1 is now under £300 with cashback. Has a 20MP 1" sensor with a Carl Zeiss Sonnar 28-100mm/f1.8 to f4.9 lens.

Edit!!

I had a Rollei 3.5F for a while - lovely camera,but getting film processed was a pain.

Supposedly the new Deus Ex engine has been heavily reworked for DX12, how well and how heavily we don't know. But it looks like a fairly heavy implementation. In fact, I don't know if there is a DX11 version ... possible it's been cancelled as W10 is now a free upgrade for W7 / 8 users - they haven't said anything about it. Some of the game world complexity stuff they showed at E3 would be a bit difficult to replicate in DX11, I suspect.

But yeah ... AOTS is the DX12 / Vulkan posterchild, and will no doubt be the go-to DX12 benchmark once W10 drops.
