The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. I loved all the extra goodies that I'd never need but we're included in the GPU boxes :D.

My 7970 came with DVI-hdmi, DVI-VGA, mDP-DP, a booklet of games, driver CD and a few stickers. I have used none of it but it was cool :D.

Best freebie I ever got I think was the 3D glasses from Asus GF3 ti500.

They were chunky as a Yorkie and fell off your face unless you had a huge schnozzola, but it's the principle. :D

Crysis 3 1080P @ Very High SMAA X 1

Runs really nice some drops below 60 some highs but average around 60FPS, with V-Sync on it's nice. Memory usage around 1400MB.

Highs 80+
Average 60
Lows 50

Fury X @ 1120Mhz
5820K @ Stock

I really hope we can over volt this card as I just ran the same settings as you gave in the pics at 1080P with my Titan X and was getting on average of 100FPS albeit with an overclock of 1400 on the core and 8000 on the memory but still that's a 40FPS lead.

I damn well hope by the time I get my Fury X in a few weeks they either release an updated driver or proper overclocking software.

Unboxing awkwardness :p

Not too keen on that guy, He's extremely rude and a bit of a *****, Someone asked him why he went from 2 x Titan X's to 2 x 980 Ti's and he told him/her "Well I've had 780 SLI, 780 Ti SLI, Titan Black SLI and Titan X SLI either your stupid or an inbreed", Total douchebag.

A couple of the reviews stated that what sounded like coil whine was actually bearing whine from the pump. Something which AMD told them was fixed in the final revision shipping to customers (but not in the pre-production units sent to reviewers). That would explain the difference, and as there've been no reports of the whine yet, it would seem it's correct.

This guy wasn't so lucky:

So I guess there are some bad pumps on the loose. I really want a Fury X, but I just KNOW i'll be getting a card with a noisy pump, I'm like a magnet to faulty hardware. :p

But I think I'll order one today, lets live on the wild side!

my corsair h60 watercooling unit also had whine noise, so its nothing new.. most of the fans in the computer will silence it

Then return it. It's considered a fault (judging by AMD's statement) that was meant to be rectified with a change of bearing.

Of course, anything using bearings will have dud ones ... even if crap ones have been upgraded to better ones.

Really don't know what to think of the reviews now that people are getting a different experience from the reviewers with things such as coil whine and performance. May have to retract my comments about AMD, as it was said with frustration regarding their products falling behind Nvidia again. I really hope that I am wrong about what I said and that the owners reviews in this thread tell a different experience on the Fury.

They all seem to be telling the same story so far dont they? ie its not as fast as its rivals.

Tempted by one of the Samsung 4k Freesync screens, the 28" is TN but the 24" is PLS, don't think I could handle staring at 4k on a 24" screen though, also no idea on the Freesync range on those, I imagine the 28" one would be half decent with 1 or 2 FuryX pushing it

As someone very "out of the loop" on modern monitors (my iiyama PLE2403WS is ~7 years old now, has an annoying intermitant bug of the "auto adjusting" windows blocking the central portion every now and again for upto ~20 seconds ), I always thought pixel pitch was king in terms of picture sharpness.

Wouldn't a 24" 2k resolution screen have amazingly low pixel pitch and thereby amazingly sharp picture (depending upon panel tech)?
