The G.E.C.K - Vault Tec component.

OK panels fixed. I need to add the screw holes back into the yellow piece but I will do that later.

Hey all. So I started work on one of the side panels last night. I was going to cut all the way through, but then had worries about how to assemble it. So I am instead going to carve in the logo, then cut out pieces of yellow and insert them.

So aye, it should look something like that.

OK so obviously I have been distracted, but today I got the wifi working.

Its the same as a Steam Deck, apparently.

Unfortunately I did not install the game yet as I forgot my other desktop was downloading a game. But the principle works haha. I also asked a guy in Russia I think to test FO3 (he uploads lots of videos of the BC 250) and he said it ran beautifully at 4k. Amazing :D

I won't be starting this until the late teen days of December, but for the most part it is just machining now. Which will be nice.

I'm going to order the acrylic next week. No point now as I'm home at the flat.

I will be at mum's for 3 weeks, though. She has osteoporosis and needs a bone infusion but can't whilst she owns her teeth. I'm not a doctor so god knows. Any way after a 3 year wait the NHS decided to pull all of her teeth out on the 19th December /huge eye roll.

As such we're doing Christmas dinner etc this weekend and I'll be there until the new year making sure she's OK. So that leaves lots of time for this.

Edit. I've now ordered the bolts. Gold ti coated M4x12.

OK so I have ordered all of the plastics. I ordered 6 sheets of blue in 5mm and two in yellow in 3mm. So there is a spare there in case anything goes wrong. I hope not lmao, set me back £73.

These are the Ti coated bolts I have ordered. Should be here next week somewhen.

In 12mm, IIRC.

Good luck with the acrylic - what are you using to cut it? I had a nightmare with mine, and none of the online "top-tips" were any help

New machine has not snapped a single bit yet. Not even the 0.8mm ones ! I probably just jinxed myself lol. I will be using a 2mm for the VT logo carve, and I can't see me snapping one of those tbh. It is only the 0.8s I have ever snapped, and that was because the old machine did not have manual stepper adjustment. Since getting that on the new one? I can set the start height absolutely perfectly.

Edit. My bolts arrived today. Yay. No word on the acrylic yet, mind. Edit again.. OK so last night I set it up. I was hoping to install FO3. I am not sure how I am going to go about modding that yet, but I am hopeful I can mod one on Windows and then copy the files over (and the ini).

One problem, though. As soon as I attempt to actually download a game it gets about 5 kilobytes, then comes back up with the install button. Hamish seemed to have wifi issues too but I did deffo get a supported stick so god knows. It may be the pathetic short antenna.

Oh and I rewired the PSU a bit. The 8 pin PCIE (3 lives 5 grounds) has been done but was not easy as the connector on the PSU end is only 6 pins (cable doubling is one of my pet peeves). So I had to buzz the 4 pin EPS (that also doubles into an 8) and send two grounds into that connector, removing all of the wires I did not need. Way tidier.

Tomorrow I shall continue wiring. I need to remove 22 of the 24 pin connector wires and fit a proper switch. Right now I am using an EVGA PSU starter thingermajig.

Edit yet again. Annoyingly I have 3 sets of powerline adapters but they are all at the flat. I need to pop over on Sunday for a medication delivery on Monday, so I will bring them back with me then. That should solve the internet connection problem. It isn't a problem at home as I ran cables bleedin' everywhere, but here at mum's it's impossible.
