The Gamers Guide To Mantle

A developer which has the staff numbers of Crytek, while releasing as little games as they do, can not afford to launch "semi-decent" games, they need to be 8's at least, and for me Crysis 2 and 3 are more like high 6's to low 7's.

SA aren't the first reporting problems though, and people brushed them off. But now it's SA, there's suddenly some truth?

I'm pretty sure THQ finished development of games and launched games during their decline and ultimate end too.
But Crytek have only brought warface to Steam, that doesn't really signify much :p

Mantle vs. DirectX Comparison

Jason Megit, our Senior Technical Marketing Specialist, takes you through a demo at Computex 2014 that demonstrates the power of Mantle. In this video, you can see a side-by-side comparison of Starswarm by Oxide Games running on the Nitrous engine on two identical systems -- one on the left running on DirectX compared to the one on the right with Mantle enabled.

System specs for demo:
AMD FX-8350 8-core CPU
AMD Radeon R9 290X
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 Motherboard
OCZ Vector 150 240GB SSD
8GB DDR3 AMD Performance RAM
Windows 8.1

Don't Crytek make decent moni with engine licensing?

Can't say it's anywhere near as popular as UE but then again we don't hear about every license sold, just games that were released using it.
