The GeForce GTX 1080 Is The Best Selling High-End Card Ever Released – AIBs Confirm

It's not surprising that they are selling so well - both the 1070 and 1080 are cracking cards, AMD have no competition to them at the moment.

I'm extremely pleased with my 1070's performance at 1440P - I just can't get over how little heat/noise it produces compared to my 390X :D

Indeed. It is the only thing in this segment of the market for sale and it is brand new and has a lot of marketing shoved behind it.

AMD literally have nothing for sale to compete at the 1070 and 1080 performance areas. In fact I just looked at the Fury range and the only thing OCUK have for sale is one model of Fury Pro, for only £25 cheaper than the lowest price 1070!?

This thread is hilarious :D It is shocking just how many people on this forum have no clue whatsoever when it comes to marketing strategies :o

What do you do for a living?

I'm surprised at the lack of pre-order folk asking where their order is. Ordered on the 27th May and still no 1080. If stock was going to be this low we should have been informed, and if stock was going to be continually this low we should have been kept up to date.

It's not like I was late to the queue.

if you aren't fussy over model its easy to get one, I cancelled my FTW pre-order altogether and then tuesday night spotted some MSI Armor's in stock and jumped on one, not even any queue jumping

There will come a point when people won't pay, Remember the Titan Z at £2400, then it was on a bogoff offer lol, then half price. If people had more fulfilling lives outside of their bedrooms ( yeah yeah you know what I mean ) then NVidia would quickly stop taking the urine and reduce prices sharpish. I'm more than happy to wait for a card with the performance I want at a price I'm willing to pay.

The fact that a lot of us were all willing to pony up so much additional cost for the 980 replacement is the big worry. I mean, me' yeah obviously I was gonna buy one regardless. I am self confessed GPU whore, but the rest of you?

Nvidia know we are suckers now lol. If this really is the most successful card and the biggest milking, the future pricing could get even worse. The 1170 could come in at 980 Ti money. Bad times...

Some of us didn't cave in, some of us don't regret not jumping on the bandwagon ;)

The same is true for any GPU though, if the punter deems it too expensive, it won't sell but clearly people see the 1080 and 70 as fine or it wouldn't sell as well as it has.

lol?

You just posted my replies to the posts you posted saying you were wrong, which you were.

You underestimated how many they sold and shipped. That is all there is to say.

Anyone can see that and there is really nothing more to say. There is no need to get silly and start telling me to grow up :)

Well you said the same figures as me and if I am wrong so are you. SO why do you keep pulling up and quoting my quotes? Seriously dude, take a chill pill and leave me alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the shipped bit right, underestimated world wide shipping but then again thats only Gibbos "estimate". Doubt he has Nvidia's worldwide shipping figures every day?????

I got more things right than wrong yet you just post that Im wrong every time I post and its starting to be annoying tbh. You are going on ignore, the first person I have ever done that too in 14 years on this forum.

Gibbo, out of interest, did you have more 980Ti stock in the first few weeks of release or more 1080 stock?

True and it is selling very well indeed. I think the combo of 4k screens and VR means people want more oomph at the moment so Nvidia released the right card at the right time.

Doesn't mean to say they will get away with it with the 1080ti or 1180. But suspect now the bar has been raised they will try it. They can always come down if it isnt selling. Hell people in the states are buying the FE at $849 which is £720 here

I bet Nvidia wish they had set the price at $849 now as its the retailer getting all the extra profit.

I'm not buying this story. A good selling card yes, but best ever hmmm....

It could be coincidence but every time I have checked on ocuk the 1080 Founders Edition has been in stock with 10+ on a few different makes. AIBs are out of stock but not the FE.

I have also read that companies like EVGA are only shipping very low numbers in the US ie around 10 per day of non FE cards.

To me it seems like Nvidia are pushing the FE cards and holding back on their partners getting non FE cards. Nvidia would make more revenue from selling FE cards over letting their partners sell their custom cards. The stock problems seem to be AIBs and not the FE.

When I bought my 480's/780/980Ti all the cards inc reference cards were out of stock for many weeks. This doesn't seem to be the case with the 1080 FE. Surely if it was the best selling card there would be no stock at all.

Edit: Just checked ocuk and there are 4 different makes of FE 1080's in stock (10+) and no AIB cards.

1070 gaming edition price already dropped $50 here in NZ at one retailer. Been keeping an eye and it would appear the stock levels haven't changed at all this week at their shop at least.

Am sorry but I just don't believe what salesperson say. Never have and never will.

Edit
Last time I repeating this.
I know not all the sales would post in that thread!!! I know that 100k will not POST! But you expect more than 60 post from that 100k! The thread should be into the hundreds easy...

No it shouldn't. You still don't understand that the majority of people simply don't care enough to ask to be added to some stupid roll of 'honour'. Once I get my cards I'd want to test them, not get involved in some knob-waving contest online with people that I don't know and will never meet.
