The GeForce GTX 1080 Is The Best Selling High-End Card Ever Released – AIBs Confirm

No amount of facts will deter the AMD die-hards, such is their hatred for all things Nvidia. They even resort to slandering a decent and honourable fellow like Gibbo. Let's not forget 1080 purchasers have been persecuted on these forums for weeks.

The reality is that the demand for high performance cards is increasing, especially as we move into VR technology and high resolution screens become more mainstream. If you want the best performing cards, you have one option: Nvidia.

1080 sales make perfect sense to reasonable, unbiased people.

iPhone corrective text it was meant to say most of our customers are NOT forum members!! :)

That is awesome for oc.co.uk that they are selling well, but won't do much to lower the prices in the future. GTX 1080 Ti going to be £1k, and will still sell out. Bet nvidia aren't happy they didn't increase their prices earlier. :p

It is mainly due to no competition. Once AMD bring out their competing cards Nvidia will react.

Until then (and that could be October at the earliest), they have free reign in this segment of the GPU market.

Quoted for truth. No competition = pay for the performance if you want it :(

Mid range (overpriced) for the series.

Roll on Ti. . .

Might well be claimed as mid range by some and might well be overpriced but it doesn't stop it being a real beast of a card. I can pretty much whack all settings to the maximum for every single game out at 1440P and this to me is impressive.

Here’s an idea

Why not

Not just this Thread but others

Stop Crying about the Price being too High due to you not going for it or not having enough cash

Having a Go about the card being Midrange when it completely beats the Hoop of your High End Card

Stick with your Current cards or look elsewhere for an upgrade

Stop having a Go at conspiracies about people making statements about cards etc

On the Subject of Gibbo this and Gibbo that

He is away at an NVidia Conference (of which none of you lot are)
He runs a successful Business & interacts with folk unlike any of the other E-tailers out there
Of course he is a Salesman- How else could he sell things?
He seems like a Good enough Bloke

Stop Greetin like Wee Girls about people who have something that you don’t- it sounds Desperate & petty

I hope you are all having a Great Day though:D:D:D:D

1080 on course for the most profitable GPU ever.

Let's hope so!

This is why NVIDIA can bring us such great product with new features and performance and can work with game developers to push PC gaming further because of those profits. :)

You didn't actually quote anyone so by your own logic you were muttering incomprehensibly to yourself. Now it makes more sense :D

Why would worldwide owners post on OCUK forum? You're using a worldwide estimated sales figure and then comparing to the OCUK roll of honour list. You do know Gibbo's sold figure includes pre-sold ones right and you need the actual card in your hand to get on the list here??

lmao

Look Gibbo has said he has sold a 1000 in the first month and he has two to three times the stock of other major etailers in europe.

I think he also said he had pre sold up to 10,000

So back to the article. On those numbers I would tend to agree the 1080 is the best selling card based on pre orders.

On actual numbers shipped - no way. Gibbo has confirmed he has a 1000 480s in stock for launch day and he expects to ship at least 500 of them on that first day. Thats half of what ocuk have managed to ship 1080's in a month. On that basis 480s will overtake 1080s within a week.

always take media with a bunch of salt. the 970 gtx sold over 1 million cards. so it is a drop in the ocean in comparison. media business related will obviously telly you otherwise ;)

I find it hard to believe such an expensive card would sell so many, especially when it seems a poor upgrade from a 980ti or titan. I may be a cynic but I find this to be a padding exercise by nvidia.

Attempt at justification of price increase for this and future models?
