The Golf Club

Just a heads up that The Golf Club 2 is out today. Looks pretty good and I'm looking forward to getting home after work to give it a go! I like the idea of being able to form a club with your friends.
Cheers for the heads up!!!
I was late to the GC1 but really enjoyed it. Will check this out when i get home!

Just need a Nhl Game on pc now!

Cheers for the heads up, i forgot this was being released.
I loved the Original, spent a lot of hours on it, so this is an easy buy for me.

I bought The Golf Club VR the other month but as much as i really wanted to get on with it, i just couldnt.
I just didnt really have enough play space and the controls with the touch were just a little bit too odd with no real weight to the swing, I considered bodging an old cut down club shaft and weighting it correctly to get the right feel for a swing, but in the end decided not to bother and went for the refund instead.
Strangely I found it actually affected my real life swing, spent the first two holes of my next real life round readjusting to the way it felt when i had the real club in my hands (well that was my excuse anyway...).
I'd happily rebuy it if some company made a short club adaptor for the touch controllers.

Downloading now!

You can't do it via the Steam App, need to do it on their website.

Remote Downloads are enabled from any web browser when you leave the Steam application running on your PC or Mac. Of course, we only recommend you do this on your own private, secured computer.

When you’re logged into Steam on your home PC or Mac, you can manage your library by visiting your Games list on the web.

  1. Log into your Steam account online from your computer or mobile device at www.steampowered.com
  2. Visit your Games list by clicking on your Steam persona at the top of the page, and then clicking Games in the secondary navigation bar. Please filter for All Games. If you’re logged into the Steam client, the games list will reflect the installation state of your library on that machine.
  3. Locate your game and tap the install button to initiate your remote download.
You may choose to refresh this page to check the current status of your installation. When you return to your active client session, your game will be ready to play!
Cool to know. I remembered doing it but was sure it was done via the App but being an old git, my memory is short lol.

Ok so one round in, initial impressions are.
slightly different swing control, my old method of using the weight of the stick returning forward to give both an accurate and powerful swing is no longer possible, physically have to pull back and push forward and a smooth fluid fast and straight motion to get the most out of the swing.
I seem to be a little worse(accuracy wise) on the drives, but able to control the puts better and kinda samey on the approach shots.
Would love to see the return on the percentage/grid on the shot modifier as at the moment its guess work, which i suppose it should be just like real life, but i'm used to judging my modifier using the grid lines to compensate for wind/bring in shots etc.

But all in all it seems quite a nice improvement, nothing ground breaking but more of a tweek and polish of the original with some added features.
will get another round or two in this evening and actually have a dig around the menus and new features to get a better feel for it, but yeah so far i'm pleased.

Had a couple of rounds and really liking it. Tried using mouse but I was having a real nightmare controlling it, so switched to 360 controller and simples. Loving the look and feel of the game and I can see me losing some real hours on this.

Loving it. Can't believe how well they've polished it and improved performance massive. Ultra at 1440p and I'm getting around 70fps on most wooded courses, on tg1 I would get half that.

Loving the new ball physics, loving the tempo based swing.

Yeah once they sort out teething problems with the servers and such this will be spot on, properly got the hang of the swing/tempo system now. Only thing i'm struggling with now is inducing back spin, dosnt appear as easy as it was with the original, used to be able to stop a ball on a penny or get enough backspin to make it roll back quite a few feet, now i'm lucky if i can get any back spin at all, increasing loft more often than not lengthens the shot rather than brings it in unless you go too far with it and it ends up at your feet (slight exaggeration), also getting the sweet spot on bunker shots is a nightmare.

takes a few rounds to get used to, first hole i played had 5 putts, a lot different than tgc1 on the greens.

Just hit a 60 at the little brook forest course....it was from the Red tees though. Absolutely loving it.

Anyone else have weird ball physics at times though, almost like the ball is on string and it just wonders rapidly in different directions like it's weighted lol

Played a few rounds and got my handicap (5.3) Playing career mode now and decent. Putting is still doing my nut in but getting there.

Just played the first round in career mode using their provided template for the opening season. Shot -1 for the first 9 holes. Graphics are great and runs really well on my laptop (1050ti), I agree with the above, the ball physics are a little strange, particularly when it bounces and the swing system is taking a little getting used to. The wind doesn't seem to have as much an effect on the ball flight as in TGC1, but will definitely take a few more rounds to settle in and find my rhythm with the game.

Loving it so far. Much harder to get your drives to go where you want, and far trickier to consistently hit 100% distances. Previously you used to have to pause for a moment at the top before starting your downswing, now a slight pause will cause you to lose distance. Tempo is crucial now.

I'm also having real difficulty getting the ball to come out of bunkers straight, much like real life.

anyone find this for under £25.49? its that on greenman just thought i would ask before pulling the trigger.
