You have 50% of my main rig, or my room gets to hot.

Best I can do, be happy Berserker! :p

:D

I fold too, just not at the moment because my PC is in my flat, off and with no net connection :o

Back in Sept' :D

I run boinc on my PC's, (i not sure if im classed as addicted or not. I only built one PC specifically for it!) although i have and will have a dabble in it every so often.

And for all those who say it to hot pffff. Atm my PC's are running in a room that has an ambient temp of about 45 C! Stop being woosy and start DCing! :p

10. Pc gets too hot/noisy/uses too much power.

-Your pc is poorly designed; sort out noise or cooling problems by posting in the Overclocking & Cooling forum. Folding can be run at a low CPU percentage if necessary which will lower heat and power consumption.

That's just plain rubbish. My PC uses too much power by being on when I'm not using it, it's nothing to do with the thermal performance of it. When I don't want to use it, why should I bother leaving it on, wasting electricity that I don't want to pay for?

Are you lot in DC really that hard up for people, its like 3 DC pimps per week now.

Never folded before, am now. Same username as here, team 10 as requested. :)

My installation seems to have stopped on 'Completed 0 out of 125000 steps' though...should this happen? Should the DOS window close when it's all setup?

Does it all run in the background or does that window stay?

If you installed it as a service, close the command-window with Ctrl C and reboot. When wondows comes back up FAH will be running in the background.

The thing about steps is the program heeping track of how far it is in its simulation. It will write a checkpoint ever 1% along the way. this can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on how large a WU you're crunching.

Welcome aboard. :)

There hasn't been a pimp thread in more than a month now. ;)

yeah your right

I meant in other threads in hardware with posts such as 'they look good for folding' & 'hope they are going to be used for folding' posts, i just seem them more than i ever used to.

i am not moaning, just pointing out i see them more than i used to

Currently having a blast with DPAD to consolidate my 5th place (worldwide) but was folding for another team. I started DC with SETI for alt.comp.hardware.overclocking (Usenet) then moved onto Genome@Home (which predates Folding@Home but is the same people) for ACHO which became TGC when it merged with two other teams, then Distributed Folding for TGC, then FAH now DPAD but will go back to FAH sooner or later.

DC is an addiction and I have it in spades!

i have a spare rig prepared to start folding, but in this weather, i couldn't bear the extra heat in my room.

its 29C now, at 10:00 at night.

it was 35C earlier.

in winter, i will fold.
