The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

Any plans to put it under water?

If I can get the power limit higher, probably, but as it stands no, just had an hour of GTAV and it barely broke 70C with a 1400mhz boost, which is brilliant considering my case is absolute dog poop for air cooling :D

Iiiiinteresting.

What's your ASIC?

And I'm assuming that was with volts added.

72.3% and yep, that was with +87mv.

Thats impressive for an air cooler. Im over the moon with the EVGA hybrid kit with 2 hours of GTAV @1490mhz not going above 52 degrees :)

Didnt touch the voltage slider in AB, just put power limit to 109, +150 core to see how things went. Boosted to 1478mhz.

I can get mine to 1450mhz without touching the voltage but that extra 40mhz needs a bump. Havnt tried to take it any higher as I wont see any difference in game Only added 200 to the memory and havnt really bothered trying with it yet. Might not even bother at all

Could you link me the card you bought as there are multiple AMPs :)

Sorry Snodge i missed this earlier, this one: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-090-ZT&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1402

Very happy with it, first time I've ran air cooled in a good few years, hybrid holding up really well to only hit 52c! My 780's on custom water would regularly hit 50-55c on a long session!

Considering the weather at the moment I'm very impressed :D

Havent tried much more either tbh, at that speed it's already out in front of my old 780 sli setup. And so much cooler and quieter. Might try for 1500 or so yet though and tweak the memory a bit. ASIC quality of 66.3% so not the best ive seen.

Yeah Ive certainly picked the perfect time to get the cooler fitted. Heart in mouth stuff fitting a cooler to an £800 card though and the last little screw was partially threraded! Warranty is out the window but those temps are well worth it :)

Interesting.

Mine is only a 68.4 and refuses to go to 1430 without crashing.

After I slipped and flashed a bios tweak it just went to 1450 with no volts before crashing.

It makes sense as ASIC is supposedly related to how much power for each clock, not specifically how far it will go. Just about to try with some volts.

I've not change the voltage max though, just the wattage bits.

I personally think the asic score is a waste of time as my TX is 63 and clocks fantastically well with a small voltage increase but my last 7970 was 91% and was pathetic. It took a big bump to get 100mhz out of it stable

Got my MSI 6G today and must say its a beast and nice and quiet.

Although this is my first green card in quite a few years so I do have a couple of questions.

I started a game with Afterburner and the MSI Gaming app, didn't change any settings but it seems to have auto clocked to 1380, not complaining just wondering is that ok?

Also not sure if DSR is working correctly.
Setting it to my 1920x1080 60hz HDTV I can only reach a max res of 2720 x 1536 on desktop and in game?
I can get to 3840 x 2160 on my monitors, and was able to get that res on AMDs VSR
but no matter what setting I cant get above that on my HDTV with this card. Do I need a HDMI 2.0 lead?

I use 3 monitors and when setting them all to 120hz the middle monitor stays black yet the outer 2 work fine. This has also happened in a couple of games where I noticed the only Refresh rate I was able to choose in game was 119hz.
Also I and have found out the DSR option is only available when I disable Surround Vision, anyone have any fixes for any of these?

Cheers

Not sure about DSR to be honest. I use a display port cable and can get the full range of resolutions with problem

Ok, changing my bios power table to match a 1.281v bios that was linked in here, I can get to +38mv and +194 core to boost up to 1460, thats 40 more than before.

That caps out at 1.224v and my bios limit is the default to 1.250v.

At 100% fans its bouncing up and down between 70-72c in these evening temps, and will occasionally drop down to 1447 and 1.201v. It's not hitting it's power limit from what I can see.

I have eventually got my g1 gaming installed after having to return my first one as faulty. It's got no coil whine and boosts to 1380 out of the box but God it is SO loud. Honestly sounds like a hairdryer at anything over 60% fan speed and it's quite warm compared to the g1 gtx970. The gigabyte g1 980ti at 60% is louder than the gigabyte g1 970 at 100% and for this reason, I think I will return it and swap for the msi gaming 980ti.
Is the msi980ti that much quieter than the g1 as general opinion seems like it's night and day difference.

I had 2 x 780 windforce and 2 x 780 MSI gaming editions and they were not exactly night and day but at 70% fan speed (which heavily oc'd cards will be at most of the time),you could barely hear the MSI cards and the Gigabyte ones were noticeably loud. At 70% the MSI cards were not even the loudest thing in my PC and Ive got all liquid cooled with silent fans

Looks like MSI is stealing the G1's thunder. First it was Fury X or G1 now it is G1 or MSI...... Amagad it never ends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
