The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

Idle 33c and load maximum 70-74c, but its NOT representative because currently where I live there is a record summer heat and my room temprature is almost like a sauna. In the Netherlands we are close to breaking our heat record in 1944.
My cpu is +10c hotter then usual as well, its pretty damn hot atm where I am, so perhaps someone else could provide a more realistic answer.
I can imagine this card getting no hotter then 66c with normal circumstances considering my case is actually pretty well ventilated, although it was never built for unusual circumstances like this, hehe. :D

In regular circumstances, my case is extremely well ventilated, thats why I'm personally not that worried. But we'l see, my second card isn't coming probably untill next week. Currently just enjoying a single card.
As for tower advice, I cannot say. But I use Corsair 450D with 6x AF quiet edition fans from Corsair. Just be sure you don't sandwich them, you'l need a mobo with spaced SLI.

i have this mobo buddy - ASUS Z97 Maximus VII Hero , you think that will be ample space, what motherboard do you have ?

Your mobo is great, better then mine probably. I personally use Z97 Gaming 5 series, MSI mobo.
As long as your case isn't completely closed, and can breathe with plenty ventilation, I personally wouldn't worry about using double 2 way non-reference in SLI. But opinions vary on this, some people prefer reference for SLI. I personally really dislike reference cards.

Yeah me too. I ran 2 windforcve 780s and 2 gaming edition 780s on an Asus board that had very little space between them and they were fine. They do get hotter but the fans just work more is all. If you have space on the side panel to fit a fan there as an exhaust to help draw some heat off them, thats better but its not a deal breaker.

Yes,ref cards are more suited to sli but I hate the noise they bring with them

After a couple of days messing about I think I've settled on my 24/7 speeds & fan profile

Max I've got the card to without messing with volts is 1567mhz, so I've set it to 1500mhz for everyday gaming.
Memory is at 7500mhz, did a couple of benchmark runs at 8000mhz but didn't see any noticeable increase in performance.

Fan curve Is always a pain, choosing between cooling & noise, I've tried to get the best of both.
Max the card has reached after an hour of playing Dying Light is 72c with fans at 65%

Overall I'm happy with the card, it replaced 2x G1 970 which were excellent cards but I've already noticed how the extra Ram has helped in several games.

The G1 may be fast but you sacrifice peace and quiet to get there. A lot of the G6 cards are just as fast but amazingly keep quiet whilst doing it.Amazing engineering from MSI

My G1 is quiet as a mouse, so not sure where this assuming loudness comes from and I am maxed clocked on it with max 67% fan under load. My mates msi can not get near and soundwise there about the same

Ive owned several windforce cards and one thing they are not is quiet as a mouse. Must be some loud ass mice where you live :p

Maybe you're not as susceptible to noise because they are definitely not the same. Theres plenty people lately sent back their G1's as they too loud and are happier with the G6

The fans run at 1650rpm minimum at idle, G1 is a nice card but possibly the worst sounding.

I had to remove my overclock as it was causing driver crashes.

Tried EVGA Precision X? I know they are basically the same but I've always had less issues with the EVGA software.

Also what Voltage mode are you using? Overvoltage or KBoost?

Seems unlikely @ stock volts.

I'm using the default voltage offset.

Seems with MSI afterburner, no matter what, voltage only goes from about 1180mv to 1224mv on my 980 Ti Gaming.
I have it currently at 140+ core and 400+ memory. I don't have the best oc'er it seems, unfortunately. Would have loved a stable +175 on the core, but it keeps crashing, and it seems like these cards are voltage locked by default.

loving my msi gaming quiet as hell even though my pc internals are anywhere from 30-40c idle in this heat.
twice as quiet as my 280x was even if I set the 980ti fan to 100% and that was supposed to be one of the quieter 280s

I need more memory though only got 8gb and my os didn't like me having a tiny page file and downsampling gtav from 4k > 1080 kept giving me stupid warnings about windows running out of ram and wantring to cllose gta5.exe so had to set a 4gb page file on my ssd :(

Dat contact tho. Why do Asus keep doing this?

What's wrong with it? if you're complaining that the die is only touching 3/5 heatpipes that's because it's too small to touch the others (which are soldered to the centre three anyway), this cooler was designed especially for this card, it's done that way by design not by mistake/slacking.
