not sure if anyone else agrees but this one is supposed to be almost silent and looks nice, i would probably have went for it if i was air cooling.

You can also turn off vsync now as well and limit at the full frame rate (or not limit at all for benching)
 
Had a quick muck about with overclocking but I don't have much time right now.

At around 1500MHz I start getting red blips appear all over the screen in the Witcher 3. Experimenting with +12-+50mV didn't seem to make any difference. Temps drop to 63C with the fans at 100%, however.

Anything else I can try or is that just the chip limited? One thing I did notice was that usage would drop to 2% for one count every 30seconds or so.

Whats the expected score on Firestrike for two of these in SLI (Reference) with a 4790k? cuz I just put my second one in again after only using one for a few days and I swear the score is way lower now, but I dont know if im imagining it or not

Mine is hovering around 17k at stock with two ref 980Ti's and a 4790k at stock, I swear it was around 19k the other day, unless I really am going mad

I've switched from an R9 295X2 which was more hassle than it was worth, i'm extremely pleased with the 980TI so far

I wont pretend to understand exactly what it means, or if its even relevant. From my brief research though, most people seem to think it means the higher the ASIC quality, the easier the card is to overclock. Apparently anything over 70% is considered good.

I don't think the higher asic numbers always equal higher overclocks on air. I use to have 2 7950 in crossfire from sapphire, same model and everything and one was in the high 70ish and the other was 61%ish or something like that.. i guess you can see where im going with this? the 61%ish one OCed like a boss and much better than the other higher asic one. Maybe there's more to it and i missed it i don't know i just dont think it is as simple as higher asic equals higher oc. I could be wrong of course.

From what I've read, a higher ASIC number means a lower voltage is needed to enable the card to reach its highest stable OC, this of course could be absolute rubbish as I'm far from an expert when it comes to overclocking.
 
Scratching my head over which TI to get. I have the KFA2 GeForce GTX 980Ti "Hall of Fame" on pre-order but no idea when its going to arrive. Meanwhile, with money being no issue here I am starting to see little reason not to get what appears to be the fastest 980TI available in the Amp Extreme. The KFA would suit my white/black theme. but the wait is agonizing.
