The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

i know i know. It's new card excitement - plus i want to make sure i haven't bought a lemon. So same volts but +200 seems ok after a quick 30mins on bf4.

I just wanted to check i wasn't missing anything after the joining the 980ti party late.

Good stuff enjoy!

Plenty fall into the trap of instantly blaming instabilities on the driver rather than their Overclocks or Overclocking software conflicts.

About 5mm , hence my problem. I did actually phone overclockers and they said it would be fine which I found strange. If I could use my 3rd pci express slot id have 45mm. I don't even mind buying a new motherboard but ill need one that doesn't limit me to using the top 2 slots. Apparently the msi z97 gaming 7 can comfortably take 2 " triple-wide cards " according to techreport.com

5mm as you know will never be enough.

As I say, I know for sure the z87-oc supports slots 1 and 3 so it isn't unheard of.

Good luck.

Nope, I'm actually suprised overclockers support said my board would be fine, I've got an msI gaming 7 board on the way anyway, it has more space betwen slots 1 and 2 for triple cards.

What does +200 boost to, that's about 1350/1400?.

Do you have much on the memory, as if you push that too high it can add to instability - for me I tend to use the following for very stable clocks.

+0 Volts
+10% Power
+245 Core
+450 Memory.

I used to run +500 on the memory but noticed the odd crash, but since dropping the memory down to 450 it seems more stable.

It might be the only contender as the AMP Extreme has a protruding heatsink too... Dam you Gigabyte and your coil whine!

How does the EVGA OC? I've always ruled the sc out in the past because surely they save the best chips for the Classy? Does it run cool?

Lastly, why are there 2 versions of the SC with a fair price difference, I can't see any other difference.

Cheers.

The majority seem to be doing 1500+ so odds are you won't get a bad one.

One with the backplate one without, Is why there's a price difference + the none backplate one is currently on offer. Normally the difference between the two is only a tenner.

Why? What does it have over the others?

Binned chips and dual bios if overclocking is your thing, its also cheaper than the amp extreme at the current offer price... If I didn't already have an msi I would get the Hof at that price

Pretty much this, but one user got unlucky with the silicon lottery on the high speed binned chips the hof has and got 1460 max oc, he did praise the cooler though.

Seen some reviews saying that some of the Zoltac cards suffer from coil whine. Anyone experienced this? I'd hate to buy the Amp Extreme then have to return it, after having to return my G1.

Im running the amp! Edition at the moment and cap wise, there is zero coil whine. Not a peep, really chuffed!.

My only bugbear is the fan closest to the back of the card near the ports, gives off an annoying rattling sound at certain speeds.

That aside Im bowled over by how awesome this card is.
