Thanks. Ill try that tomorrow. Precision seems to be a bit buggy with loading on windows start and applying OC settings. Ill try afterburner.
 
Hey guys!

I'm wondering if you might be able to help me out a little. I've got the OcUK Geforce 980Ti (the regular version, not the 'Super OC' one) and I'm wondering if you had any ideas about how I can improve the cooling on it, perhaps by taking off the stock cooler and adding on a recommended aftermarket one? I wasn't actually aware of the difference between Reference and Custom cards until I got this one, so wasn't aware that the Reference would be noisier and hotter. The card came as part of the 'NVIDIA Forcebox' and I think I would have selected a custom card if I'd known.

In any case, would it be worth it to track down an aftermarket cooler and, if so, are there any you guys would recommend?

EDIT: Just to confirm, I do use MSI Afterburner and have set up a fan profile in that. I can keep the card relatively cool (around 69-78c) when gaming, but overclocking definitely pushes it into the early 80's.

Since I modded mine I now never see temps over 55 degrees with that card oc'd to 1512 clock at 1440p 144hz gaming. Temps are mostly around 52-53 though under heavy load.

It's also helped the overall system temps with all the heat being pushed out the case (MSI Gaming 6 card).

Ah brilliant! Thanks guys. I had no idea about this setup, and seems affordable too. I'll definitely give this a go as it seems a fairly simple way of getting some extra cooling on the card.

Edit: Placed the order now, should have them in tomorrow. Is there a good tutorial somewhere that might explain how to remove the stock cooler and replace it with this new one? Thanks for your help again, super appreciated.

If SLI support wasn't so gash, I'd have two of these beauties. Surely the 980Ti has to go down as a classic?

Pascal will have to bring something special to the table if I'm going be getting rid of my card. I've actually got the upgrade itch right now, and the wife has been asking what I want for Xmas and I'm like.... :confused:

Small Pascal won't be anything special so I think the 980 Ti's will get a lot of use in the next 12 months.:)

You think sli support is gash ? i'm sorry my friend but i dont agree. I've been sli for a few years and yes there are a few games that dont support it but they are always gash games anyway imho. I've gotta go sli using 1440p 144mhz gsync monitor, especially because im one of those that likes all the eye candy turned up :)
 
Sold my 2x980's and bought a Zotac Amp Extreme, Its Huge!!
Copied the Guru 3d review overclock settings
Temp Target 85 Degrees C
CPU clock +75 MHz
Mem clock +400 MHz
Voltage + 87Mv
FAN RPM 60%
It boosts to 1525 core / 4010 mem It never gets above 62 degrees at full load.
Tested Assassins creed, Witcher 3, GTA V and Battlefront all on ultra and they are so much smoother.
Very happy!
