The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

I was hitting similar temperatures until I made the changes suggested. I was actually really surprised at the difference.

Gonna wait till the exhaust blower comes then see what difference that can make, probably next week some time as its coming from america. Good cards just the heat and noise can be irritating, suppose thats the way it is with triple blower cards, never intended to go sli, more of a spur of the moment thing :)

Not sure if this is the right thread to ask...

I have a 780Ti at the moment that is starting to 'limp' a bit.

I went ahead and preordered a 1080 STRIX when they were made available but as weeks go by my buyers remorse keeps climbing.

I play at 1440p and I am a bit tied up to nVidia (monitor is G-Sync) and even when it wasn't feeling poorly the 780Ti wasn't really stellar on Witcher 3 and Fallout 4.

Would the 980Ti suffice for 1440p @ 60fps in those two games (and similar ones) without having to cripple the graphic settings?

After the price drop and the ripples that has caused in the 2nd hand market is a very tempting option that is available now rather than who-knows-when and does not make such a big hole in my pocket.

A 1070 would be a better option, unless you're buying second hand? To answer your question, yes a 980ti is a great card for 1440.

Yes

I've been away for the weekend...I come back and the 980ti has dropped £100 in price! Definitely looking at SLI at some point now. Anyone else SLI 980tis? Any issues? How do they run fan and heat wise?

I run 2 reference cards in SLI, and it runs very well performance wise in all games I have played.

In terms of temperatures, the highest temperature I have seen is 70 degrees on either card but I have now put an additional fan blowing air in between them and they don't go above 65 now.

For fan profiles, I run a pretty extreme one where the fan is 5% over the temperature.

Did you add the hybrid to the msi 6g you had? Was tempted by 980ti sli. But board spacing is a bit tight too. Current card is the msi ge.

No. I swapped out the MSI for an EVGA Classified. The board spacing on the RVE is excellent and maintains the bandwidth too, which is why I took the plunge with SLI.

I have to say, I've been surprised by the performance. It's been excellent.

Ahh, read your sig incorrectly. Thought you had one classy and a hybrid on a msi 6g.

meh, i bought mine secondhand for 450 back in october, current pricing needs to go sub 300 for me to consider sli.

i'll be happy to wait for the 1080ti
