The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

Witcher 3 :) I wanted all the bells and whistles in that game but hairworks wanted something different :P

Yep the same, although I can run it with hairworks at x4 AA but it will drop below 60fps but usually only down to 50s.

I am very tempted to SLI with the lower 980ti prices and apparently Witcher 3 scales very well in SLI. According to PC Gamer its 53%.
Then again I could just wait for the 1080ti to upgrade :)

It runs an average 70 FPS for me at 3440*1440 with everything maxed and hairworks x4.

That's pretty sweet at that resolution as well. I'm running 2560x1440 so I'd assume I'd get a little higher but 70fps would be great with everything maxed+hairworks.

I'm only in the early stages of the game and its a big game!

I see you have two EVGAs. I'm assuming any make 980ti would be fine? I have a KFA2 at the moment.

I have an EVGA and an Inno3d hybrid, so yea any makes will do. I went for hybrid for second card as it really helps with temperatures.

I can test 2560*1440 for you if you like. I'll post details later as I'm heading out for the afternoon.

That would be great thanks for that.

Ah yes the Hybrid is a Inno3d so yeah any make then.

I will continue to check on prices and check out the cooler cards. How do you find SLI scaling overall?

I find scaling to be really good in the games I've played so far. Any particular games that you have in mind?

GTAV, Shadow of Mordor, Assassins Creed Syndicate, Batman Arkham Origins, Total War Attila/Rome2, Fallout 4, Skylines & Wolfenstein.
I have read that Doom4 doesn't support SLI same as Arkham Knight.

These are games I'm playing or that I have in my backlog of games to play :)

Bloody drivers sending me up the wall today, booted up to the much vaunted nvlddmkm.sys error. The system now boots with 1 card installed but not 2, uninstalled drivers reinstalled and when it got to the second card a bsod about a driver schedule error popped up. Even booting the machine up the strix logo on the second card flashes (as it should) then when it gets to a certain point in the booting the light turns off like the drivers refusing to recognise it and the boot basically stalls on a black screen.

Think i might just do a format as the machine has been flaky lately often taking multiple attempts to boot up for some reason.

That's not good. So far I haven't updated my drivers since Pascal released because there seems to be a new update every week! Plus now hearing of more issues being caused for Maxwell.

Good luck with your format.

One thing that puts me off SLI is driver support going forward! As of course Nvidia will be patching Pascal more than Maxwell from now on.

Awesome. Thanks so much for these! Very helpful.

I've pretty much finished GTAV so I wouldn't be playing it that much although it does see some decent improvements and it looks like both GPUs aren't maxing out. Scaling in AO is a shame but I also read that AK doesn't even support SLI.
Interesting you have ROTTR there a game I probably will get at some point which looks good at 100fps.
I think overall SLI is a big improvement and in general these games look to scale really well. Especially Witcher 3 which I am most interested in and it is pretty much more than double the framerate at the same settings from single to SLI.

Temps look very good. I usually get around 65C with a high fan profile so I dont think heat will be an issue. How loud do your cards get?

I think with prices dropping by the week for 980tis I will most likely SLI at some point :)

ROTTR and Witcher 3 both have excellent scaling and support.

Noise and heat are unavoidable but I game with headphones on so it doesn't bother me. Max temps are around 70c on both cards for me.

What mobo and case are you using?

Also, something to think about: I get x16 bandwidth on both cards due to 40 PCI lanes and I think this is makes a difference, but others say it doesn't. It would be good if someone with a i7 could bench the same games with 980ti SLI just to see what difference X99 is making.
