The GTX Titan X owners thread.

Hmm, is it worth going for Titan X or waiting for the so called 980ti??

The card isn't something you will buy if your looking for bang for buck.

Depending on what monitor you run a normal 1080p or 1440p monitor a 980Ti if not very much slower than the Titan X with 6GB VRAM should be sufficient.

If your running 1440p (120-144hz) or a 4K monitor grab the Titan X for more VRAM and power.

I would get a few more opinions first but yes you won't be hitting 60fps on the latest games maxed with no AA like DA inquisition, dying light, etc on 1 gpu. G-sync works best from 40-60 fps at 4k but the controls lag wise will not be in the same league as 70-80fps for example at 1440p even though it looks smooth in motion. 1440p will also give you some more room for more taxing future games as well.

Those are the only 2 games + Witcher 2 Ubersampling (all at 4K) that aren't running very high FPS for me. Dropping a few settings here and there I get to the 60 FPS mark.

Here you go mate, gpu's at stock, power limit 100. My cpu runs @4.4ghz for reference. I just did the bench with no previous cycles of heaven. Both cards stayed under 80 degrees. Custom fan profile and afterburner reported max boost 1202, mainly at 1190 for pretty much most of the run with a quick dip to lowest of 1177. Hope this helps you out.

Cheers, that is helpful.

I will do a run right now and show comparison

300 off....Seems strange doesn't it? Min FPS is worse.

Edit: Just saw your CPU now.

Are you running the same colour PCI-E slots (16x16x) ?

Let Heaven run for a little and then start. You might also want to run your fans at 70%+ constant so you don't throttle.

You might also want to check if your boost is running the same. (~1200ish)

Yeah they are both PCIE 3.0 16x

I was interested in a direct stock -> stock comparison.

But I've Just searched Guru 3D.

Apparently it's a Windows 10 driver released on 19th March.

Might install a newer (non Windows 10 driver) to compare.

I'm on win 8.1 and the gpu driver is from the nvidia website which i downloaded the day i started installing them and chose custom install/clean installation. I also have NVCP settings at max performance, single display.
On the driver downloads on nvidia website can you select win 10 yet when selecting the manual options to find the correct recent driver?

Still waiting for my TX but the delay has started to make me question the swift I ordered to go with it, mainly after reading about how well a single card is coping at 4k for people.

Sure I’ll be fine once they both arrive and I’ll love hassle free 1440p g-synced gaming at max settings for yonks, but still… that 4k, tempting.

You will need to shell out for another GPU at 4K to play EVERYTHING over 60 FPS+ (now and in the future). I have only had sub 60 FPS with 3 games ATM on a single OCed Titan X.

I personally fiddle a lot with my NON Gsync 60hz 4K monitor (triple buffer, vsync etc) so I get a tear free experience (over 60 FPS) and you will definitely need the adaptive monitor refresh rate for some games on those minimum dips (4K is a beast of a resolution).

IMO the 1440p GSync is the best option ATM for one Titan X while we wait for 4K GSYNC 120-144hz monitors to come out and mature.

Hi all its my first post ever on ocuk fourm and Iam a proud owner of 2 tx evga sc :( still overdue .... Can't stand the waiting game
Anyways hi again to all ocuk 4ever

I would hazard a guess (and only a guess), we see the 980Ti at the same time as the 390X. nVidia have only got to chop the memory down or even use failed TX chips and have a few less cores.

whatever the case it's a pain, it's bad enough waiting till next week.... so frustrating

ive not played loads of games with the Titan X just got my BenQ 32ich 4K
i come from 1440p IPS, been playing shadow of mordor all maxed out with AA off as im led to believe dont need AA at 4K
im getting 60fps with the odd drop down to 55 not gone into 40s once im happy with that, my OC is +195core +250memory useing Evga card standard bios, i do allso have one more card on order is over due from the 1st of April been told i got to wait untill the 15th now
but if i had one card i no 4K is demanding i would be happy playing as it is with 1
playing far cry 3 with v-sync on AA OFF everything on max not one drop from 60fps
i do think for 1440p its a bit of a overkill unless you got a swift or predator
