The GTX Titan X owners thread.

Yeah considering these can do 4K pretty well it should be fine with the ultra wide resolution. With two when prices drop it should be very rapid.

Just added to the OP

Techpowerup

What is strange is the hottest part is the top left corner. It is nearest to the air intake so why is it getting so hot ?

I've just noticed the date has been put back to the 2nd. It was the 25th when I ordered mine.

I thought Gibbo said the initial batch of EVGA cards sold out almost immediately. Maybe the new date is for the second batch. I take it you mean the EVGA card.

Well those who ordered EVGA within the first like literally two minutes should get a card next week with a lot more EVGA arriving the following week. EVGA pretty much shipped all their stock to just two retailers, ourselves and one other, both of who sold out the initial allocation within 5 minutes of going live.

EVGA are working on getting a lot more stock into Europe by next week or so. :)

Next week arriving in FREE stock I shall have:

Asus: about 5 units spare at current.
Gigabyte: loads of units spare at current so a great one to grab.
MSI: about 10 units spare at current.
OcUK: about 10 units spare at current.

In short if your not focused on brand, then middle of next week we expect huge volume of Gigabyte so ordering Gigabyte now should see you with a Titan X in your hands by next weekend. :)

He posted this a few days ago, next weekend is this weekend 27-28th.

Not sure how many sold though during these past few days.

Does anyone else feel that the exposed RAM chips on the back of the card warrant some after market ram heat-sinks?

Why would the only be concerned with cooling the ram on the GPU side of the card?

A lot louder than I thought it would be and that's @ 46% fan!

:D

You mean with something like a backplate ?

Not always the best solution, maybe intake fans blowing over the card will do the trick. Some of those crazy spiked heatsinks would do wonders though :)

I was kinda thinking something like this instead of a backplate

But ultimately something would be better than nothing right?

Yeah those are the "spiked heatsinks" I mentioned. Only a few days to go till we get the cards and see how they fair on the temps side.

I can do BF4 + Hard line but no DA:I sorry.

I can do DA:I but I don't have a Gsync.

Does anyone know the physical size / dimensions of the ram chips on the back of the card?

Can't find exact dimensions, looks a tad bit bigger than OG Titan in this image

Vince Lucido (Kingpin) has one  "EVGA GTX TITAN 2G done, 6k++ Firestrike Ultra is a good start...pushing for 2100mhz now"

Does anyone know when the first shipment of the EVGA SC's are coming in ?

Hopefully I ordered early enough to be on the first shipment :D

Hi All

First incoming shipment of EVGA SC and ref cards is now due confirmed to OCUK on Wednesday 25th March. I know the backorders have been very impressive at OCUK.

I will hopefully get further news of a 2nd batch from Nvidia soon and then update Gibbo as soon as I can.

Thanks
Ben

It's fun to see kingpin push the boundaries with the card but I doubt anyone bases purchasing decisions on what he does anymore. The process seems to be a) go through 50+ cards to find a top bin b) solder a load of additional PCB to said card c) use custom bios and software nobody else has d) pour ln2 over it

It's a great promotional thing but I would be more impressed if he did a water run before ln2.

Been finding less reasons to not buy the TX this weekend, I’ve decided I want to make the leap to 4k and I was trying to consider what the best option would be.

Now despite the promise of unlimited power the 390x comes with I still doubt it will be ‘the solo 4k card we’ve been waiting for’, it may cope better than a TX but still not quite there if you want high settings and a little bit of breathing room for 12 – 18 months.

So that rules the 390x out as I’ve no wish to deal with AMD’s current crossfire profile rollout schedule.

Also not quite sure the 980ti will be the best option either; I suspect it will be a 6gb card as to not tread on the TX’s toes, which would be a shame as the 6gb door is already being knocked on by some games, how long before its being kicked in?

Looking more and more likely that I’ll be picking up a TX now and then a second one in June when I pick up my new case and a monitor.

Think the only thing that will change my mind now is how well people report the TX deals with heat/noise, water not being an option right now :(
