*The GTX590 Club*

LoL@techpowerup conclusion!!! :D

That's brilliant!

I was actually thinking about picking one of these cards up then I found out about these problems with them going bang.

Think I will hold off buying a new card for a while now.

im trying to return mine under dsr,

going to go for 2 3gb gtx 580 in sli, are those cards ok?

Are you not better just going for 2 x 1.5gb 580 cards as I have seen somewhere that there is not much difference in performance,
It was a review about the GAINWARD 3gb 580 will try find the link

SLI 570 is silly as they have a low amount of VRAM. 1.5gb per card is the minimum you should have these days anyway.

570 = waste of space.

Rubbish, 2gb is a waste in 99.999999% of situations for 99.99999% of people.

Every single other thread at the moment is, I have a slight problem with............

"its vmem, you're out of vmem, I saw it in some review at like 1200000x 300000 res and 58xaa and it ran out of memory".

Sorry but 2 months ago 1gb was more than enough in almost every game released, thats STILL the case.

1.2gb is more than enough for almost every game out there, eyefinity or surround screen gaming is still used by almost no one, if you have 3 monitors, then you might want to consider more memory, but theres still quite a lot of games out there that run more than fine on eyefinity with 1gb memory.

Where on earth did the 2gb memory panic come from, essentially every eyefinity review not a few months ago came to the conclusion that extra memory very very rarely made a difference, and in most situations it was in cases where you'd need pretty epic amounts of horsepower to make a difference, like, memory limited at 3 screen res with 4xaa, memory limited to 0.5fps, non memory limited on 2gb cards, 10fps, still not playable, just no longer memory limited.

Yes there ARE cases where more memory will make a world of difference.

99.999% of people on this forum don't game above 1920x1080, incredibly few games will use more than 1gb at high settings at that res.

+1 this is true, there are no current games that require more than 1GB at 1080P or under. Future games WILL require more memory but you will more than likely upgrade again when 28nm hits so GTX 570 sli would be fine for the next year or so at 1080P, its not as if your never gonna upgrade again lol.

My HD 6990 will probably get replaced when the dual 28nm cards appear!

I wouldn't consider buying a new GPU with less than 1.5gb. No point finding that some great games that come out in the next 2 years (the length of time I tend to keep a GPU for) need more VRAM. It's all very well waffling on about games' VRAM usage now, but we know that it's increasing all the time and will continue to do so IMO.

A Shameful Display this card has been, mine just died on me!! Was playing Shogun 2 and all of a sudden the screen went blank and heard a loud pop. Going to test all my other hardware out but so far I am back up with a GTX 465 just fine. Going to put back in my XFX 6970's

Heck now and the place where it has the smoking crap is where the backplate is unfortunately... I called EVGA and they are going to get me a replacement. Going then sell that mofo...
