The hating of the English.

Im Scottish and have met plenty of English people I get on with but at the same time I have seen just as many drunk idiots spouting rubbish about Scotland. I just brush them off as our youth probaly have the opposite effect spouting rubbish about England when drunk.

You can see why this would easily create hatred on both sides and leave a bad impression when young. Most of us get on great together, just a minority on both sides make it look bad and that gets the attention.

I have no hatred for the English. Although the behaviour of your football fans abroad generally leaves a lot to be desired. Small minded thugs imho.

What does bug me is this....

If Murray wins Wimbledon he will be referred to in the media as "British"
If Murray loses Wimbledon he will be referred to in the media as "Scottish"

The English media like to use the union when it suits them but abandon it when it doesn't.

I hope Murray loses ;)

I find it funny how last world cup the Scots invented those T-Shirts "Anyone but England".

It's all just jealousy and hatred directed at us because as countries, they simply aren't as good.

My slogan for Sunday is: Anyone but Murray!

The fact is, we are disliked as there going to be jealousy against one of the best countries in the world :D

I was bullied, by staff members, at my primary school because I'm English. There were highly inappropriate comments made on my school record, and I was negatively treated. In the end, I left primary school early because of it and an investigation was launched by the education authority. The result was my record being cleaned of all inappropriate comment, the head teacher of the school (who was editing my record) formally apologising for her actions and accepted all blame and guilt.

So yes, it still exists and goes much further than 'banter'.

Though that being said, you get ***** in all walks of life. Overall, I have a very positive image of Scottish people and think that in particular Glaswegians are amongst the friendliest people you'll meet. Aberdonians however, are horrible people.

It's a bit weird for me, as English people think I'm Scottish and Scottish people think I'm English. *Shrugs*.

I remember a time not so long ago when we would have this 'debate' every week and now we're reduced to churning out the same old pointless and inaccurate nonsense only ever month!

GD :(

Why are you worried what 3rd world dwellers think of you, talk down to them and get your butler to move them off your land.

This garbage is recycled over and over again and I'm not sure it is even true. I have been watching the tennis and several times on serveral occaisions the BBC after Murray has won, they said the Scot not Brit.
