AA - This can be tweaked loads for extra AA goodness. But I'm just trying the default out at level 6.

Press shift f12 mate, it'll look even better then, you just have regular supersampling enabled by using his dll file, turn on multisampling with Shift+F12 :).

EDIT: nvm, I'm wrong, I just happened to not use definition lol :p.

GTA IV + AA :D :

This game should have looked like this on release, how can one russian guy be more skilled at making these types of enhancements than the whole group of apes at R*. Not able to use AA in dx9 mode due to deferred lightning my ***, yes you can stupid R* idiots.

It's pretty amazing what just one graphics setting can do to a game visually. GTA4 no longer wants to make me throw up from sheer power of jaggies :D

What's the sort of performance hit from enabling AA?

Massive, about console performance now ( 27ish fps on avg at a guess) but then with the slight stutter now and then when you run out of VRAM and uses the regular ram instead ( the guy's dll allows gta iv to use the shared system memory assigned by vista for the gpu), you need a lot of vram in this, a double VRAM version (1500+ mb vram) of a HD4870/higher or GTX260/higher would be best for this.

But, It's playable for me on my GTX260 216sp regular 896mb one, I still haven't tweaked it ( eg. tried different resolutions or AA levels or game settings), and it doesn't look like a turd any more :D.
I'm actually considering getting a new gpu for this now :D.

EDIT:
Hmmm I just noticed a background app, gtaivencoder.exe running, taking up 25% of the cpu power, perhaps the stutters were the fault of that, I'll retry later by setting the affinity for that @ core 4 only, and gta IV on my first 3 cores.
