does this Metro game use the same engine used in the Stalker games? Looks very similiar.
No but it's made by the same programmers (GSG however claims that it is a heavily modified/developed early build of the Xray engine from the stalker games).
The lgihting efects are similar but it's mostly the art direction that does it.
I like hout the 4A and Xray engines don't make people looks like plastic.

DennisK4, what settings are you using and what sort of fps?
Metro 2033, Very High settings, AAA enabled, but no DX11 effects. 25-45 fps depending on how much is going on in the scene.

That star wars republic Commando shot doesn't look to bad still. The character models seemed to have stood the test of time quite well.
