Mafia II really is a beautiful looking game, it makes you wonder where GTA went wrong on the graphics side.

It went wrong on the technical side, if you could actually run it at top settings it's a cracking looking game.

gtaiv looks nowhere near as good as mafia2 ,the only good shots of gtaiv are massively downsampled ones.

no AA = always will look crap even at 1920x1080 gtaiv looks ugly

Not to start a whole Mafia 2 vs GTA IV debate, they are both great looking games, but GTA IV did need to be modded to look its best.

In the three GTA IV screens below there is no downsampling of the pics, they are in-game with 3x3 SSAA enabled with a mod.

Not really cracking it looks very janky in general, it took them over a year to patch it so that shadows look half decent. As said only downscaled shots look good really.

Them pics above look overly processed, don't like that mod tbh.

everything seems to be made out of square lego blocks in the GTA engine which looks bloody horrible without AA that the game doesnt support

My copy came with some random DLC thrown in - "Made Man Pack" or something like that.

SSAA is basically the equivalent of downsizing your images anyway, the mod just renders the game at double or triple the resolution of your screen and then downscales it for display. Looks fantastic but utterly unplayable without a fairly hefty graphics card.

Is it normal to be only getting 20-30fps at 1920x1080 with high settings anyway on a 5850 and an overclocked quad? Played it for the first time in ages this morning and can't believe how bad it runs.

Don't know why people don't think Dragon Age looks good, I think it looks great. When you're zoomed out at least.
