Time for something a bit different. If these are too big or could be better let me know, first time posting anything in this thread but there don't seem to be any rules to speak of
In the meantime, maximise your browser for best results, these are 1920x1200.
Oh, and there's 30-odd of them.
The Secret World
This game's a bit under-rated in my book. It plays a lot differently to other MMOs I've played and the modern setting is very well done. It allows the writers to pick actual myths, legends, ghost stores, you name, and put them in the game. The pictures below are from the Solomon Island, Egypt, London and New York areas.
Dusk. The main road running through the "Savage Coast" area of Solomon Island. This game has some great lighting effects, note the long shadows, which would look horrible in plenty of other games.
A long-abandoned barn.
Hell erupts from the Overlook Motel.
The browser visible here is an actual web browser you can use to do research necessary for the investigation missions (no, not just googling a walkthrough). This one involves a fake website on the real internet, but a few minutes after I took this screen I was using a pen & paper to note down the morse code message being flashed by the headlights on that van, then loading up wikipedia to decode it.
Having a chat with Sam Krieg, who apparantly lives in this lighthouse. Nice view but wouldn't it get a bit chilly?
Finding this drop location was harder than it looks. It's the final result of one of two puzzles I've come across so far that involve morse code. This one was apparantly done at professional speed, I had to record it (I used FRAPS but the game has integreted video recording) and replay it over and over to get it all written down! Additionally it used some military terminology which made me look twice til I looked up what ADOA means.
Not quite what I was expecting from an ancient Sarcophagus.
Nice MP7s there love.
These little statuettes play a key role in the Egypt storyline.
This black stuff is called "The Filth" and its spread plays a big role in the game's story line.
Things always seem to be going wrong for the Orochi Group.
Maybe because they can't leave The Filth alone!
Asim the Jinn does not like mummies. This one is about to get burnt to ashes.
Pitch black, even if you turn the gamma up all the way. The miner's helmet (with torch) is one of the most useful items in the game!
The symbol of Aten above a pyramid.
Don't worry guys, I got this!
Flipping pigeons. They're everywhere! And that weapon on my back is a sort of supernatural assault rifle.
An example of what Funcom calls "media popups", ie. pictures of objects.
TSW's tagline is "everything is true" - they like making real-life references like this.
Me and 4 other Templar cabal-mates stepping up to the second boss in the "Darkness War" dungeon. The whole thing is a dream-based re-enactment of an ancient battle.
Just before the last boss - who can be seen flying to his nest.
Mayans worshipping... whatever the hell that is.
Thundercats, HOOOOOOOO
*ahem* the guy with the sword there jumps in to help you kill the boss.
There appears to be a hole in the earth O_o
Meet Cassandra, aka Cassie.
And her creepy-as-hell friend, Che.
And Carter. She's 16, telekinetic and has apparantly had a bit of a rough day.
The results of a Seance in London.
Guarding an artifact in London with a little help from my Templar comrades.
K I think I'm done
