I don't think I've ever used a horn to call an animal, sitting there and wait = yawn.

At least if you are tracking you are doing something and increasing your skill level in tracking, which once you get to lvl 5 it tells you if its a male or female you are tracking.

I purchased the basic package for 3 months and now have all the clothes, most weapons, scopes etc. purely by spending the odd 5 or 10 mins here and there completing them.

As for tracking, I once spent 2 hours tracking 1 bear, and never did find him. However, in another hunt I stumbled across one and put a shotgun blast through its side :p sometimes you are just lucky :D
 
depends have you one killed it with a ethical gun ?

have you registered the kill ?

to register kill you just click on animal with pda to register it will then disappear.

have you found the animal after killing . i suggest you try the tutorial if you new :p it will tell you quickly how to play it

also it must be male

I downloaded this the other day and today decided to spend a little time tracking and see what its like. Managed to bag two Mule deers (male) worth around 90 odd points each. Quite liking the game. Not too hard to track the deer down once you have the first track. I tend to blow the call thing once I find a track and wait. When I get a reply I head toward the noise indicator and come across another track and repeat. Got two kills out of 4 spots. Not bad for my first go.
