The Hunter

its what most of those players now play just better looking than deer hunter 2005 . a lot of the pros who used to play that play this ;)

Might have to give it try the graphics are great, can you can play on the same sever with friends and the best score at the end of the round wins like in DH2005?

it is only single player but comps there are many comps everyday for every species/weapons

so say today theyre maybe 8-10 comps running for one to two days depending on what the comps are for. you can win ems for placing in top three and trophies  also there are leaderboards for best scoring bucks and longest shots and so on. also hall of fame if you top of that species leaderboard at end of season.

all these are logged when you collect the animals . you can talk to your friends in game once you add them by ingame chat which is instant.

I haven't played in over a year, I had a subscription/6 month membership but I guess I just got bored..(I can't stick with one game for long :()

What major changes have happened? Last thing I remember being majorly new was the clay pigeon stuff.

Me and a couple of mates used to sit in vent and play this at the same time, obviously all totally different hunts for each of us but we were all still learning the game at the time and chatting helped kill some of the down time a bit between trying to pick up tracks.

You do need to agree to shut up a bit though when one of you is close to some prey as you need to be able to hear what is going on in game a lot of the time and then concentrate as it can get quite tense when getting into position and then ready to shot.

But it can work quite well playing it like that and then bragging about your score on each kill. Plus you can always look at each others hunt reports afterwards to make sure they are not exaggerating, though there is no way of proving/disproving the stories about 'the one that got away'. :D

There are also global and friend based leader boards for score and distance for each of the animal types. So if you have a few people on your friends list it can get quite competitive trying to one up each other.

But you should definitely give it try. I haven't renewed my membership for ages now but quite often when this thread gets bumped I fire it up for a quick go of what is freely available to play and get really tempted to sub up again. Just never seem to have the time for gaming these days to make the most of it and when I do it's normally just jump on BF3 as that's where most of my other online buddies will be.

But even the free to play bit of this is nice to jump into every once and a while. And for what ever time it costs you to download and install it, even if you are only slightly interested and it sounds like you are, then I'd say that would be time well spent. Just don't blame me when you go crazy and buy a membership and all the toys that are in it. :p

(blame ~>Dg<~ :D)

I had a fun hunt yesterday. The boar are easy to find alright, and those hay fields seem to be full of pheasant. I had fun practicing my bow skills on them and managed to nail one from 53m, which for a little bird is pretty good I think :) The roe deer are hard to get close to though. Very hard to spot anyway, I always spook them before I see them. Just one tiny buck so far.

ahhh your doc blonde :p

dev go near barns for roe deer and ive also found at top left of map is a hotspot for them aswell ;)

focusing on large roe buck at minute :)

Sadly not chap :( I nearly did a year or two back, but stuff happened and I never got around to doing it.

I don't mind just playing the free version at the moment, if I get in to it properly I'll have a bash I think :)
