What makes someone in a publically known position take these risks? It happens at low level too eg, people putting themselves forward with criminal records. Does it cross their minds?

A large amount of people these days seem to do things online and act like there is zero risk in the real world.

It would be interesting to cross reference this with the me too thread and see which posters denigrated the subsequent women that came forward after an initial allegation as chancers/gold diggers/"if it was true why didn't they say something before" with the ones that now seem to immediately believe the subsequent accusers in this story.

He suffers from bad depression, so if he really hasn't done anything criminal I really hope so (mentally that is).
