The Huw Edwards situation

Think the Sun is gonna have more than a lawsuit to deal with. If the allegations made were false, there could be criminal charges as well especially with the state that Huw is in according to his wife.

It is weird that the Sun has made no effort to interview said people who made the allegations or the person who is alleged responsible or asked for a statement of sorts. Its like someone just threw a story in to rile up the crowd, get some publicity and hope the whole thing gets blown over.

Naaaaah mate.

I'd love for him to be innocent. These scummy publications need a wake up call.
Imagine being innocent (completely) and accused of this. You'd never escape it your entire life. Innocent or not.

If it was just bull then why did Huw delete his Instagram a few days ago...

Of course, he can't release a statement because "muh mental health" excuse but he seems to have had time to cover his tracks a bit.

Maybe if he's lawyered up, that was the advice he got. Who knows at this point, i still find the whole thing very sketchy.

Not really newsworthy either if the guy was of legal age.

Basically the story now seems to be “man cheats on wife”.

Is anyone actually arsed ?
And breaking covid lockdown rules, and sending threatening and abusive messages, and possibly doing inappropriate behaviour with other colleagues....

Not a particularly nice man at all it seems.

Yup unfortunately google hits when you search your name would be alleged sexual misconduct or allegations. You will never live that down, it would be pretty disgusting if it were indeed a false allegation.

If the Sun doesn't get punished in some way for this massive **** show then they'll keep doing it until everyone is covered in it though knowing this government they'll be given the ministry of morality.

Legal. I guess.
Although, if you're in the BBC you probably need to be a bit more kosher than that.
As far as legality, I don't think there's much beyond breaching lockdown so far.

As per recent updates though, more people are also coming forward, so there may yet be something come out that strays beyond the realms of distasteful. The trouble for the BBC / police now will be trying to determine whether all the new complaints are genuine or chancers

This frustrates me. How many people could be protected from abusers if previous victims just came forwards?! I know it's not easy but think of those that could be saved.

Yeah, he comes across as a very dubious individual if these things are true... technically it was all legal (save for maybe the covid stuff) doesn't negate that.

It's surely completely untenable for a serious BBC news presenter to have allegedly done these things... imagine trying to grill some politician over a sleaze allegation now re: say an affair with a staffer or something, anyone interviewed by him can just turn it around.

I suspect the data can be recovered if police/authorities need to and it's plausible he may have just deleted social accounts to stop the barrage of **** that landed his way from the Karens and Mumsnet crew.

But sure, go with the faked CT mental health angle :)

The goal was clearly to scratch at the surface so that anyone else with a grievance comes out which is an almost certainty with folks in high social positions. I bet they won't be scratching the surface of their chums misadventures (of which there are plenty) but this assault may very well be the start of a very unpleasant domino effect for all of them which is just fine by me.

Yup, pointed that out previously, that's why it seemed pretty silly for people to just dismiss the allegations of flirting with a 17 year old schoolboy on Instagram.

That he stopped the exchange or that he didn't necessarily know for sure the person was underage at the time is completely missing the point, that he DM'd them in the first place, completely unsolicited is iffy and begs the question of whether other young guys, also possibly under age if he's so careless, received attention from him?

Ditto with the covid rule breach... that allegedly started on a dating site and involved the exchange of money... do we suppose that's the only person he ever contacted on the dating site during covid... or perhaps he's contacted others too? Obvs that still relies on people coming forwards but if he's met other young men during lockdown and exchanged cash then that seems rather iffy.

Title change

Operation Huw Tree?

Looking forward to his return.

@NVP that's the comedian I was referring to who posted it on Saturday, obvs I couldn't name them at the time as that would have lead to basically naming the presenter via proxy. Someone in the comments posted "Operation Huw Tree". :D
