The Huw Edwards situation

I haven't been following this but I see no criminal offence has been committed.

If that's the case why is this a story?

Because The Sun will do anything to try and hurt the BBC. They knew their story was likely wrong which is why the never named him. Still they kept stirring the pot in the hope someone would come forward with a genuine criminal offence. Its a disgusting rag, owned by a disgusting scum bag family.

FFS i linked the article earlier in regards his 20 year battle with depression.

Grow up seriously.

Not everything is a CT
This is reality.

He was only recently told about the accusations against him recently. So the bbc as been sitting on the story for nearly 2 months.

This is the downside of not having a conversation early on with him. Everything as been jumped on him now.

Whores. The word you are looking for is whores..

So his depression as just coincidentally happened at this time?

If he didn't think he was doing anything morally wrong, and he has more facts than me and you, I think he would have come out defending himself.

It’s amazing how they just jump to ‘mental health’ issues as a defence. The whole thing stinks.

FFS in 2022 he was interviewed in regards a 20 year depression cycle.

20 ******* years.

Whos “they”? His wife said he would make a statement in a few days didn’t she?

I think if you’d been in the closet for 60 years, struggled with depression, and then got hit by all of this nonsense and media attention, you might throw a wobble (if not more!) and need a moment to compose yourself as well.

Why is a crime being committed a requirement for this to be a story?

Did Wayne Rooney break a law when he allegedly slept with a Granny? Did David Beckham break the law when he allegedly had an affair?

Or on the subject of presenters - Philip Schofield didn't break any laws AFAIK.

There is also the alleged lockdown breach and that's pretty bad for a presenter who covered the Covid pandemic too.

No and it was none of our damned business. Unless there is criminality or if the person claims to hold some moralistic views which they have then been shown to be a massive hypocrite by their action it shouldn't be printed of aired.

The covid breach if it happened came a long way into this story, it would on its own have never made the news.

This isn't aimed at you dowie, I'm just curious, do we know 100% that he knew the person on IG was not 18?

Looks like some people are going towards the US style of Christian evangelism to define morality... The law is the only thing that matters. If something is not covered by law we should be making efforts to make sure it is. Otherwise, none of our business.

Edit: to add what I think: if he's done nothing illegal I hope he sues The Sun until they go bankrupt. If he has done something illegal, then justice should be served.

There was (initially) an allegation of criminality but by the mother not the "victim".

Allegedly...
It was mentioned towards the end of the convo that the person was in their final year of school so he knew then... whether he knew from the start is unknown as we don't know what was visible to him on this teen's Instagram before he DM'd. it seems reasonable enough to point out that he should have applied some common sense and was behaving rather recklessly when sending flirty DM's to a young person who he really ought to have considered may have been underage.
