Possibly a very cheap way of getting a dedicated turbo bike, or building your own to take outside.
Frame only from £110...
By compatible i meant the Kickr Core supports virtual shifting, which is the important bit, and that you can use the cog, or cog v2 with it, though as youve alluded to it needs slight adaptation for that. They're not exactly the same.

Upgrading Wahoo KICKR CORE to Wahoo KICKR CORE Zwift One - Zwift Cog Compatibility
Received my cog and went to fit it on my kikr core. Allegedly I take my cassette and freehub body off, easy, leave the collar on the axle and slide cog with it’s free hub body on. BUT it doesn’t slide over the spacer/collar!! And yes I pushed, greased and wiggled it. Didn’t tap with hammer...forums.zwift.com
Need to do something which keeps you engaged/distracted! Racing very good, as are the group rides for going further/longer without realising. The various things I do, I struggle to do less than 1.5 hours on there...Bores me to tears on the trainer much past 45 minutes.
If you just want to clock the fastest 100 miles that's the best way, just have to be ready for 3-4 hours sat in the same position able to hold a good tempo, which does take some building to. Do a 100km first, there's far more group rides for that. I find these better on a rolling course, which does take longer, but gives you more variation along with respite from changing position. The best ones for me are those with multiple laps with a punchy ramp on them or a climb long enough to pace - as I'm generally faster uphill than most, so I play around on them doing different efforts to relieve the legs/arse.Keep telling myself I'll join in one of those BTMR 100 mile group rides on Tempus but my arse doesn't want to.
I've been suffering with gunge for weeks. Maybe months. The cold air really is the cause - to be fair I've kinda had something for several years, mostly goes to almost nothing during the summer, then returns in the winter when getting up in the morning or post-ride I've got a bunch of phlegm/snot to clear. Don't feel ill and never quite 'bad' enough to consider doing anything with it. Just always got a snot rag handy! Also this time of the year the cold air does my chest no favours
How far is Ludlow from you? Think you're near Stoke? So around 1hr?Time and extra faffing is what mainly killed my MTBing. Llandegla or Cannock Chase are a two hour round trip, which is a ~50k road ride from home.
HAha yeah, it's also a tricky one to get ride, especially if riding it hard!I find that Petit KOM anything but petit.
Note - not many (any!?) of them come with forks. Don't know individual pricing on them for what is compatible, looks like another 200-450 generally.Bargains on there if they have your size. Even some of the more expensive frames are well priced looking at the carbon ADV 9.4 for only £490
Yeah pretty miffed my far more expensive (paid £899) KICKR v5 I 'splashed' out on instead of getting the older & cheaper Core isn't compatible... When the Core would have been.By compatible i meant the Kickr Core supports virtual shifting, which is the important bit, and that you can use the cog, or cog v2 with it, though as youve alluded to it needs slight adaptation for that.
Unlike say any Kickr V model below the Kickr V6 which dont currently support virtual shifting.
Yeah it sucks right! im just glad i got the v6 cheap 2nd hand as my first, and so lucked in to the virtual shifting world of things. Only suggestion i could make would be pick up a 2nd hand v6 and sell your v5 ?! or even sell your v5 and get a core for the same priceYeah pretty miffed my far more expensive (paid £899) KICKR v5 I 'splashed' out on instead of getting the older & cheaper Core isn't compatible... I get the KICKR doesn't have the electronics for it - so why the hell does the Core?
The KICKR being the premium model they revised every 2-3 years and have released 6-7 versions of... Mine being the 2020v5 which they replaced in September 2022 with the v6. Why did the first 5 versions of KICKR not have it. Yet the 'stripped down' cheaper Core trainer, which they released only 1 version of (?) in September 2018 does have the electronics for it the Cog. Bizarre!
But not that miffed. My v5 just did it's 3rd birthday (15th Jan 2022) and it's been rock solid. No need to even consider looking at maintanance on it. I'm changing my chain soon so will get the freehub off and grease it up to reduce the noise. Sounds like it needs some, other than that VERY happy customer. So slight rub/belt noises in the really cold weather but go as soon as it warms up!
Late joined La Reine today, with only 8.5Km left, ~2400 feet of climbing and 90mins later I was absolutely drained...
What the heck was I thinking?!?!
Route badge finally got, no plans to do again for the foreseeable.
Cadex TT frameI'm still scarred from Ven-top but I want the badge so I need to do the route.
Though part of me does want to try Ven-Top again as I feel I could do better.
What is there for me to save up for now?
I've got the Tron for general riding. Aethos/lightwight for climbing, the Speedmax CFR and Zipp disc wheelset for TT/Training, Crux for gravel.
Just missing a mountain bike so I should get that but not enough routes to take advantage of it
The Canyon with a disc wheel will beat the tron bike on loads of routes, in fact quite a few frames will especially on the flats. Do you use the swifter bikes site?Canyon 24 would be a good shout actually.
You boys are overthinking this![]()
I just like switching the bikes up depending on the ride! I mean realistically I'm going to be using my tron 99% of the time to flex on the 6 remaining people who don't have one but you have to spend the drops somewhere
We're supposed to be getting upgrades for bikes, but as often the case, Zwift talk about stuff way ahead of it happening.I just like switching the bikes up depending on the ride! Even though I currently only have 50k after spending my 1.7m. Need to do some pace partner rides!
I'm usually running so far behind that I just chuck Zwift on the iPad, pick the workout and the first route at the top of the page and crack on. I like the idea of you perusing your collection of equipment before your ride though![]()
Hahaha it is brutal isn't it. I'm at the point I could go back and do 1 ascent. It's been long enough the trauma and pain are gone... But would need a pretty good reason, especially to do more than 1 again!Late joined La Reine today, with only 8.5Km left, ~2400 feet of climbing and 90mins later I was absolutely drained...

Yeah I'm not too fussed, only reason for changing to Cog would be to also change bike frame to the Ride to take advantage of that. Minor gains to maintenance and equipment costs, but I already have the dedicated bike, groupset parts (even running di2 on it) so it's only chain costs (1 a year or less). I don't worry about the noise, nor the 'mess' of a lubed drivechain in my garage. Don't even care about electronic shifting/gears - mine is well maintained and almost zero technicals.Yeah it sucks right! im just glad i got the v6 cheap 2nd hand as my first, and so lucked in to the virtual shifting world of things. Venge for flat racing. Canyon 2024 or Dogma F 2024 for rolling races. Enve 7.8 and Zipp 454 wheels. Cadex TRI and the DT Dicut ARC disc wheelset (fastest TT combo). What is there for me to save up for now?
Dogma is better! I've never understood the appeal of Canyon on Zwift, they must pay more than other brands to get their bikes on there and rated higher/faster.Canyon 24 would be a good shout actually.
