The Indoor Riding/ Zwift/ TrainerRoad etc. Thread

Man I got proper fat over Winter... didn't even realise it either until I started recording more youtube vids and caught sight of myself and was like WTF!? Hadn't weighed myself or anything, and didn't want to, but bit the bullet and jumped on the scales and measured at the same time. **** me that was depressing! I'd got up to my heaviest I can remember ever being at 106.8kg. Chest was up to 46", hips at 43.5 and waist at 43". I was gutted, but have been riding on average 150km a week since and mixing it up with HIIT workouts as well about 3-4 times a week too.
I started this about 6-8 weeks ago I think now? But did an end of month check and I'm now down at 99.5kg, 44" chest, 40.5" hips and 38.5" waist. I feel so much better already but know it's just the start. I would love to get below 95 by the end of the month but regardless, keeping on pedaling out on the trainer has been great for me.

Keep pedaling on people!!

Cheapest route?

2nd hand trainer
Android / iPhone Zwift app
Bike you own
multiple email addresses and just sign up each time you do it and you get a free 25km ride (if you ride past 25km on your trial ride it lets you carry on for that session)

If you don't care about the points, levels and all that crap that comes with it the above is the cheapest route to do for sure.

You too buddy, some big numbers in there of the wrong kind, but some amazing progress too! I'm still floating around just below my winter weight and just can't seem to trim it, but I think it's the lack of consistency with types of riding. Also our junk bathroom scales. One side of the room I weigh at 79kg, the other side 72kg. I generally try to weigh myself in the same bit of floor and several times to get an average/consistent number. Sometimes that can be 5-6 times!

Haha I just really like food... I fell out the habit of riding, or general exercise and as such it's not hard for the numbers to grow and grow! Shocking really though when you realise. I'm really liking lockdown though as I put the time there to workout and I'm just enjoying riding. Still trying to enjoy life while at the same time eating better, not constant boozing and riding / HIIT seems to be helping the numbers come down gradually. I'd rather do it more gradually than cut it all out and be miserable.

Anyway, had a day off yesterday so had a nice 60min flat blast today between meetings. Felt like I had good energy and put out some nice power. Upped my FTP to 247w. Not great for the size of me, but hopefully that'll come down and the watts get back to where I was before 270+ ftp!

Progress is progress.

I've failed 4 tests in the last couple of months so stuck my FTP at 231W (Zwift calculated from a fail) and left it there. A couple of increases from the small number of races and I think it's back up to 249W now, but I'm just going to let it do it's thing... Think the only 'test' I may try is a ramp test after a few races this week. It'll suit what I'm doing - efforts until I blow up! ;)

Haha I've been tempted by the ramp... I think I'll give it a shot after a rested well fed weekend and see how I fair!

I think I might try and do one of the 3.7km sprints tomorrow. No idea what to expect, but why not?

How do you pace those things? Fast out the gate, then keep it going? lol it's not like 1km where you just go balls out the whole way... I don't think I could do that but think I could give a good bash at maxing out for most the time! We will see if I have the balls.

So I have 2 vortexes... One broke about 4yrs ago and they sent me a new whole brake and stuff, which I still use today. I found the old bricked brake (it's the whole part that fits to the frame) when doing my garage. I got on to tacx/garmin and after a chat with some dude, I managed to unbrick it with some hacky stuff to make it work. Worked! Now I have that part but not the frame. I have been trying to find a spare frame only but it's seemingly impossible!?

I've dropped them an email to see if I can buy one but not heard anything back. Anyone with crazy google FU able to source me one?

Anyone noticing that Zwift's latest updates make it crash? I know the spec isn't mega on my machine but using a RX560 4GB GPU, 8GB RAM and I think it's a low end ryzen cpu (3600?) but these latest updates keep crashing zwift as it's loading! Anyone else had this? Seems loading Watopia or london just about work but any others keep crashing the whole thing!! Driving me mental
