The Indoor Riding/ Zwift/ TrainerRoad etc. Thread

I wish that zwift sorted something out for families. My riding has been zero for like a month+ now as I've been playing carer for my wife post hip replacement, but now she's trying to recover, she wants to ride and I do too. Zwift is perfect for us both to use together and our setup is ready for it, but my son's also talking about using it and he's 13, so we would need 3 damn subs for it!! So many threads I've seen online about this but they haven't done anything and it's bloody annoying

Started the Build Me Up training schedule last week. Just did week 0 and now starting week 1 today. Really liked the start. I am so ******* fat it's a mission, but I love the fact it alternates the RPM as well as power. Gets you out the saddle at 60rpm and then builds up to 85/95/105rpm too which is a real mix. I only have a 35min session today, but then a 1.5hr one weds.

In my winter time and as I am a fat **** right now, getting on the bike and out the saddle got me more concerned about frame stress. I looked at the rocker plates online but didn't want to spend 500quid on one (I could get a bike with that :D ) so thought I'd go about building one! Some great designs online, so I've ordered a lot of the parts for my design. I am going to make it so it has both side to side and forward/ backward movement - will see how it goes from my drawing to making!
Need to wait for hong kong postage on the bearings, then I'll get myself some plywood and start measuring twice, cutting once. Reckon I can do it for about 100quid in parts, so lets see how it turns out.

Well that benchmarking one was a bit too easy. I set my FTP to 200 last week as I am ***** currently and not ridden in ages properly, yet today when it was giving me 220W to ride for 2 mins and prompts you saying this should be hard, it wasn't as much as it should be. Same with 1 min at 250w was really too easy, so I cranked it up to 220 and I'll see how that goes.

Yes, it's low as ****, but hey. I'll get it back up to where it was no bother.

Now off to pick up the little one on the bike/ trailer combo, @Roady knows the score! :D

Keep at it @randomshenans the weight will come off, just not in 1 month

Whilst I’m writing a little update on me....
So started cycling again early spring and decided on a weight goal. (I got up to 18st 6 and decided enough was enough.) summer was great but winter was drawing in.
Got my trainer approx 3 months ago and haven’t looked back. Zwift is a revelation for boring indoor training and now since I passed lvl 12 it’s Alpe du Zwift all the way although anly managed 3 times up to now :D
Weight is now 14st 8 and dropping which I’m chuffed about( although not looking forward to the clothes shopping in spring)
Ftp at 253 and can’t seem to get it higher atm but it will come.
It’s strange cos I was never a numbers man but I’m wondering how I’ll manage come next spring without any power readings!!
Lastly even the Mrs now has an account and is using my stuff to do some training.....we may just yet be tandem cyclists when we get older:eek:
JB
Great stuff dude!! I have a wedding in Feb and I'd like to drop some KGs for that, firstly so I can fit in the suit lol and secondly it's my brother's and there are 4 of us, and I don't want to be the fat one I normally am :P Great work though, that's a real loss!! Not that long really when you think about it, less than a year! I'm going to need to get my FTP back up to your level again now ;) Keep on riding!
Oh, and my wife has zwift too, but she's not ridden in a while and I'm trying to get her to jump on with me but she's doing some other HIIT stuff...I might say I'll join her if she joins me riding :)

Did a little race for the first time in years, whopped my ass. I'm so unfit compared to when I was properly riding a lot. Good thing is, my son is 12 and is currently riding with me. He's got zwift and we're riding together every day. He's putting out like 130w FTP pushed up from 80 when he started. He weighs 38kg, and zwift tops out at 45kg so he's probably got an even better w/kg that I ever will haha and he beat me in the bloody race by 2 places!

He's 12 so he's on my wife's small road bike no issues. In fact, he was on my medium de rosa today (they come up quite small, those Italians!) as my wife was down there too.

As the above was a proper mess I'd been meaning to sort for ages, such as:

Had a proper tidy up and made space for the 4th trainer setup... just need the donated 42" to arrive and I'm going to look out for a couple of cheap 32" TVs and apple tv for the kids to run on! Much happier with how it is down there now. Need to get some more flooring still and going to do a proper cable tidy.
